Thank you all for the great Battle for Badlands T2 event today and, above all, thanks to all that took part on the final Epic Defense of Fangbreaka!

This screenshot (taken when we were pushing Destro to the Fangbreaka Bridge) is a tribute to all that fought, died and ROLLED DESTRO BIGTIME there!

Heh, seems I was in the right place at the right time for that shot. ;) (Somewhat makes up for me managing to miss the big group shots for both previous BfB events - curse you conveniently inconvenient house inspections). It was an epic siege. I think it lasted close to (if not a little more than) 2 hours by the end. After numerous failed keep defenses I dispared of ever seeing enough Order manage the disciple required to pull off a successful Pandora, but they came through in the end (and hopefully learned something in the process). All up, I'm hard pressed to recall a better keep siege in my (almost) 2 years of playing this game - something to be proud of. I must admit, things looked bleak in the beginning, as the zerg mentality seemed rampant among the Order players. There were big protests within Oldroar's Warband against splitting our forces to take two keeps simultaneosly in the Elf lands - as if such a simple concept of splitting up a force was a completely alien concept to them. Nor could many of them see the obvious sense of abandoning the capture of the Stables in Ellyrion in order to reach Spites in time to defend it (though I suppose the old greed factor is nothing new). After seeing so many players come around to the worth of using tactics and strategy, it was a little disheartening to be reminded that we will always need to teach people that worth every time we take the field. All up though, I had a fantastic time despite Destro's dominance for most of the night. It was a great feeling to have the odds against us, a serious challenge ahead of every move we made, and to fight alongside people willing to take on that challenge. If the rest of Battle for Badlands can continue this, we're in for a fantastic season.

I agree with every word you said, Dargron. Its somewhat frustrating, even desperating, to see people rebucking in fronf of simple tactics and strategy in the name of greed (or mental constraints... whatever...). But it's glorious to see some of them learning the importance of acting strategical at the end of the day. After all, besides the fun, that's what Battle for Badlands is for. Uniting people, giving them a good time together, promote great battles and give people the chance to learn with veteran and organized players how to go beyond the zerg mentality. And we were succesful at that. Even Destro showing up in such numbers was a victory for Foghladha and all of us. Next Tuesday is promissing a lot of Blood and Glory! Let's advertise BfB on both sides! Blessed Be. P.S. Slython looks good in the picture. LOL

Yes it was quite a defense. One thing to remember when seeing how bad behaved order was last night is that Many of them have never seen me before. I have not been in Tier 2 for quite some time as every time I have one scheduled it's blued out and we have to go T3. So for a lot of these guys there was no predating trust. Just be patient and they will come around. Battle for Badlands is a very chaotic event. A lot of people are going to get lost, and frustrated. However once we manage to gel and all come together the fight will run a lot smoother. Overall last night was a huge success. For once destruction came out and fought just as hard if not harder than we did. This is vastly different from the previous season. I would say that my Dual-Sided promotion is working. Now we know what to expect, now we can enter the field not expecting to have to hand hold. Regardless of what transpired last night I believe everyone had some fun.

Nice pose Slython :) It was good to see Destro put up such a grand struggle last night, and that our numbers were "usually" fairly balanced for most of the night. Every keep was a struggle to take, and an even bigger struggle to hold. We had some "listening / following orders" issues, but that is always the case during our open warband nights - especially early on in the evening. It seems that usually by the end of a three hour event, most of the newer folk have seen the advantage to reading and following the WB leader's instructions (some folk don't, and those are usually the folk that never will). There was also a lot of excited chatter in Vent (which is usually a lot of fun)... However, there were several times I missed a call, because of the overlapping chatter. Also, remember to take it easy on the confused folk, a lot of them are new to the game. Hopefully, a lot of had activated trial accounts, and are new to coordination. Some don't have the cash to fly, some don't have mounts to keep up, and some don't know what zone a particular keep is in (I'm still guilty of that one... heh heh...) Overall, I give the event a thumbs up last night - It looks like Destro is a lot more organized than we have been giving them credit for.

I agree with Stoats and Foghadha. It was a GREAT event, with epic fights and keep sieges. And I agree we faced some communication / leadership problems too. But I think Foghladha got it right: We are starting a new "educational work" to the "new generation" of WAR players. Leadership, strategy, giving up ticks in order to defend keeps and lock zones... all these things might be completely new to some people at those WBs yesterday. The simple fact that command became smother to the end of the event shows that either all the stubborn-heads had already rage quitted or left for SCenarios, or that lots of people learned through direct experience how important it was to follow the Leaders and act strategicaly. I believe the later is a better explanation. As the event progresses (and when we come back to the lower tiers again 2 weeks from now) we may experience a slight change, as some things like leadership and war strategy won't be as unheard of to the people as they were yesterday. I believe that today was a big step on the great work of breathing (more) life into Warhammer community. Lets keep up the great work (and, pretty please, lets keep having those WONDERFUL keep defenses! They are so much fun when you are a SwordMaster!!).

Yeah! May we have many battles like this one! The selfishness, jerkiness and all other human complexities are what make MMOs stand from other games. You have to learn how to deal with people here. And when they agree with you and you all have a good time and accomplish things together, this is a thing of real beauty! Congrats again to everyone for making Warhammer Online the great game (and community) it is!
