Just something that has been floating around in my head for a bit with all the new players we see logging on or old one coming back, I think I would like to try something.

It'll have two goals:
#1 Making new/old players feel welcome and that there is life in this old game yet.
#2 Inviting decent players to see what our guild is about.

Here's my idea:
Every Monday (keep it consistent and well know at the same time) at 5pm PST, hold a low level pq raid for anyone that wants to join. These pq's are flat out fun and are highly under utilized. I would welcome current, new, and coming back players (basically anyone that shows up). I'd make a macro that described our guild, macro it once or twice, but mainly just wail away at pqs.

What do you folks think? And Ben I would love input on what to actually put on that recruiting macro.

I can tell you that PQ recruiting doesn't work too well. I tried this a while back. The fact is that if you recruit PvErs they get bored midway and quit the game. They also don't like the fact that 90% of the activity in the family is RvR. This is why I mainly try to recruit through RvR. You get people who are already doing what our family is good at, and you can lead by example. I don't want to sell anyone on the idea that our family is a PvE based family as we rarely if ever do PvE. It sets us up for failure. Our optimal target is and always will be Tier 2 oRvR for recruitment. This is because in Tier 1 players decide if they want to keep playing the character. If you recruit a Tier 1 60% of the time they go dormant in Tier 2. By tier 3 most players have found their families and the ones that haven't usually haven't for a reason. Tier 4 is mostly gear hungry guild hoppers who just want to use you and throw you by the waste side. There are of course always the rare few like my good friend Damidez over there who I snagged in T4 and have never regretted for a moment. Pretty much our strategy is to Promote the family heavily in tier 2, then make our family known in the other tiers and make people come to us if they want to know more. This traditionally has worked best for us and keeps us from filling up with needers.

Fair enough, I was worried about the same thing, just wondering if you had tried it already. I'll stick to leading pug rvr groups for recruiting then. :) I may still just run these for fun though.

We are a family well known for organized PuG's. Keep up the good work man :)
