Well, I thought I knew what I was doing :-)

I've used various applications to make screen videos, but none seem to work with GW2. Or, rather, I'm doing something wrong. Here's what happens with 4 different screen video applications I've tried:

1. Start video app. and begin recording.

2. Start game.

3. After recording notice that all the app recorded was my desktop.

I did, however, get good recordings when I opened GW2 at less that full screen. Then sound and video worked fine.

Have I answered my own question? :-) Or is there a way to play full screen and still make video?

One other thing: I use Razor Game Booster. When I try to use its video feature GW2 crashes, although it makes fine screenshots with no problems.

Thanks for any help, ideas, and advice!

I use XFIRE or PlayClaw for video recording. Using xSplit for broadcasting. Haven't had a lot of problems with any of them.

For simply recording game-play footage I have been using an app called FRAPS ( http://www.fraps.com/ ) the program costs 37$ it is designed for recording and benchmarking games. you can see examples of how it looks ( www.youtube.com/kemlabs ) also for live streaming i use Open Broadcaster Software ( http://obsproject.com/ ) this is an open source application so it is free to use. it is able to grab the gameplay direct from your video card and stream it live or record to your hard-drive. (examples of stuff i have done www.twitch.tv/kemlabs ) Any questions feel free to ask me in game or through the site. Cheers

I use Fraps if I am actually going to edit the video, Xfire if I am doing simple sharing. Make sure you are running the game and your video recording software in administrator mode :)

Agree with Fog in his advice to use Xfire for recording and XSplit for livestreaming. Both clients are minimally taxing on your system and there are abundant tutorials on YT. Tweaking resolution in livestream for optimal performance (esp in WvWvW) is a must. After becoming accustomed to these programs, YT and whatever flavor of Twitch.tv you choose, investing in an additional monitor dedicated to your channel, chat, and video clients will prove invaluable, allowing you the freedom to work on said clients without them appearing on your fullscreen game client monitor while capturing. Best of luck.
