Hi everyone, I just joined a few days ago and was curious about the guild chat. Do I need to /join guild chat in order to see it? In my time playing since joining, I haven't seen any guild chatter at all, even when over 100 people are online in the guild. Is everyone quiet or am I missing something?
Also, in the guild pane I can't click on any of the tabs on the side. I can only see who's online.

Make sure you not only "Join"ed but you also clicked "Represent" if you don't represent you wont see guild chat.

You have to do that with every toon you log into to.
Welcome, glad to have you! It's worth double-checking your G guild window. When I first joined, it seemed I'd fall out of "represent" mode, especially after a crash.
Sometimes guild chat is really quiet even with a lot of people on line. I hardly chat at all since I am in the field most of the time (I love doing the dynamic events - favorite part of the game) and usually I am doing 1 or 2 other things while I play. The only time I'm not multi-tasking while I am on the game is during family events or if I am in a group.
Many of the members are also using RaidCall and don't really look at guild chat - since it is easier to talk and play instead of type and play. I have a separate tab for set for just guild chat/whispers/system messages/party/squad and is typically the only tab I am watching so that the rest of the world doesn't make the "important" stuff fly by unnoticed which also helps immensely as there are times I would miss guild chat with all the spamming in general.
