It's costing us 40k a week, i keep trying to get us one but some weeks i'm lucky others not so much.
Fog, is that a standard rate or just what the market is bearing these days? I know it's a bid process, I'm guessing there are larger coops or conglomerations that are simply better able to front that much gold, yes?
Thanks for all you do, I'm hoping I can bank enough to contribute a decent chunk for this each week. That's the plan anyway.
That is the price i've able to secure locations occassionally. I am bidding all 3 guilds each week making notes of where our bids won and for how much. Unfortunately lately every bid has failed at 40k. Keep in mind we only make about 5k when we do have a merchant. This is extremely expensive and we are always at a loss.
I didn't mean to imply that we *should* have a vendor. If it's operating at a loss then maybe we should save that gold for bigger and better things? :)
I'm not sure how the guild trader works, so a couple quick questions.
Does some of the proceeds from sales go back to the guild?
If not, how do we pay for the trader?,
and If yes, do we need to start posting more items to sell to help with the cost?
A percentage does go to the guild, but to get 40K in one week I think we need to sell over 400K worth of stuff. Not sure if we get 10% or a smaller amount. Fog would probably know that for sure.
Putting more on for sale, if it is something you think will sell would be good when we have a trader just to fatten our traders up, but there is no gaurantee of how much will sell. I know I don't get much worth posting on a trader considering what one can make. I would more likely craft things to sell rather than sell things I collect unless I know for sure it is something from a set people like. I probably sell too cheap too, but I'm not trying to make big bucks even if the last stretch of bank upgrade is a lot of money.
I don't think there is a guild out there getting their money back for the trader simply on the taxes to the guild. Most that are getting the high end areas have people wanting to sell and turning a percentage of their sales into money for the trader.
Yes we need to clear 400 k in item sales to break even. The guild gets a 10% cut of everything that is sold. Right now when we do get a merchant we only get back between 5 and 8k. Fortunately we built up quite the reserve before a lot of people left. But that said 40 k per week means a max of 3 weeks on what we have saved up. You can still send donations to @Foley but at this point I don't know how we can compete with those trading guilds who spend 70 k or more on a merchant each week.
Fog, I don't envy your position having to bid these every week for such little return. It definitely gets pricey. I am in a few other trading guilds and I have seen spots usually going for 100k to 500k (I heard Rawl'kha had spots up for 1mill+).
I guess I am wondering why we are trying to bid on 3 guild stores instead of consolidating to 1 store. If we need 40k to pay for 1 store then we need to do 1.2mill in sales to get 3. I am looking at our main store and Materials store and I see roughly 400 items in 1 and 200 in the other. It seems like we are spreading ourselves a little thin especially as a guild that doesn't center around trading. I do a lot of trading in the game and would love to do most all of it through our guild.
Because we can only bid one one location blindly. There's no telling if we will win. Having 3 givs us the option of one landing. What I'm looking for is a merchant I can land consistently. Right now I haven't found one.
At least this week we nailed 2 out of 3
Agree :) I am going to do everything possible to get as many taxes for the store that I can get
I'm playing catch-up here after moving halfway across the continent, but
Did they ever implement the system where claiming a Cyrodiil location gave public access to the guild store at that location?
yes but noobdy uses it Malthol
