The battleship Yamato tearing itself out of the ground brought back memories... only vague ones though. Must get around to picking up the old series on DVD for another look. What's not to like about an ancient WW2 battleship taking off into space with a giant cannon embedded into it's prow. :D
I do remember being quite disturbed as a kid by the very first scene of the very first episode (at least I think it was), involving a fleet of alien ships mercilessly surrounding a single ship and very slowly picking it off from all angles.
Edit - I also remember being tickled pink that the Battleships in Starcraft wielded "Yamato" cannons. :D

IF you got Neflix, they have a bunch of the movies On Demand.
lol im a old timer as well and remeber the cartoon got a few of them on video ... will be interestin tosee how the movie looks but will wait for to come out on video.
That and Ill wait for it to come out in the english version lol
