Looking for a Good Swordmaster Spec.

Greetings, all of you MMORPG nerds (I say that lovingly since I am one also):

I have a Swordmaster (Catalona) that I leveled up mostly in PvE when the game was first released and then switched to playing a Shadow Warrior. In any case, I am thinking about playing the class again.

If possible, I would like some recommendations for a good PvE spec for Swordmasters that will work equally well in scenarios and in open RvR. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Even if my main is an SM, I'm not the best one to answer because I'm a casual player. However, this is what I've been doing that helps me be a mix to blend in most groups. Briseadh is set on Path of Hoeth which is more of a defense spec. I'm going to try a more offensive tactic with my baby SM when I have time to mess with her. I find it good to have both a good two hander and a sword and shield combo. This way you can switch to the style that works best for what you are doing and what you party needs. For a recent example, I went on a tombs run with some of the crew here. I was the off-tank, so for the first three it worked fine for me swinging my two hander. However, stars being quite a different set up and we tried it with me on one of the brides, I went sword and shield for a more defensive tactic. This worked well, only thing our crew needs to brush up on now is getting them to move at the right time and not too far. ::chuckles:: The stats I find that help is a combo of strength and wounds, maybe a little toughness thrown in. Strength is obvious, but the wounds helps you live alonger. Initiative is another thing to work on lowering for the high level dungeons. You want it high enough so that if you main tank and get buffed right you are at 3% or lower. I'm still working on this, but liniments help. I also got it lowered further making sure that is the main thing I'm through my points from RvR into. Of course, I goof off in this game enough to be a jack of many trades and master of known. It's been great playing with this crew and learning things throughout the game.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

Check out this thread. Some really good info in there. I haven't been playing this game as long as most here, but SM has been my class of choice all along (though I'm actually starting to lean a bit more toward KotBS now). What I find most enjoyable is a Khaine (2-hander)/Hoeth build. In fact, the build I list in the thread I referenced above is still more or less what I run with. If you renown spec and equip yourself right (in a nutshell, concentrate on toughness), you can get a good blend of the benefits of the 2-handed spec (i.e., more dps) with more ability to survive than a pure "dps tank". That means when that Destro is knocking your guarded healer (or whatever) upside da' head, he can't afford to just ignore you (as they often can with a "sword and board" tank). It also means you're not going to fold like tissue paper when they start wailing on you instead. I'm still looking for the "sweet spot" in there, but I really like the concept anyway. :-) Edit: bad grammar
