I found this excellent thread on Reddit and thought I'd share.

Consider it the next time you wonder why a 'simple' fix isn't implemented right away.

They do an amazing job considering it is a buy to play game. In fact they pump out content and fixes faster than most subscription MMO's and have a solid game that truly does compete with them. Not everyone stopped playing Guild Wars 2 because things weren't fixed or implemented fast though. I stopped playing for various reasons, but the main reason was I stopped enjoying myself.

I feel that a game is only as good as the people you play it with. I've played some truly horrible games but have had some of the most memorable experiences that I still remember to this day. In GW2 I've met some very cool people. Just talking to them in map chat. MMO's are in my opinion community driven games. It's the community that makes the game fun or not. We're very fortunate to be in a guild that plans a lot of fun things to do together. We get together and for the most part we have the sole intention of just having fun. Some times I will admit some peoples idea of a fun way to play is not mine, thus I exclude myself from that without complaint. But 99% of the time the events this guild puts on makes the game truly enjoyable. However even out in open world alone I've chatted it up with people in map chat and it has taken an other wise very frustrating time and changed it to a funny memorable one. Yes there are some bugs in the game. Yes there are some unfair balancing issues. Yes there is a lot of content that we are all eagerly foaming at the mouth to have. (Alliance chat.. meh) But it's not truly what mmo's are about. It's about friends and family getting together. To muck about together and have fun. That's what makes an mmo great. The people you end up playing with and the attitude that you yourself bring with you when you play. That's why I don't go on forums and make posts in all caps, demanding that ArenaNet make the game fun for me again by fixing some thing. Demanding that they fix this bug or issue that has been bugging me since launch. I know full well that they are trying to fix it. Heck there probably more frustrated by the bug then even I am. But I don't let it ruin my experience. I'm there to have fun with other people. How fun that experience is depends upon who I am playing with and my attitude. One person by themselves can make a game far more enjoyable then you ever imagined just by the attitude they bring with them. For example I offer up the youtube sensation Nerd Cubed. Playing probably the most boring game I could ever imagine called Crashtastic. Yet just sitting there and watching him play it makes it hilarious. Let alone if I was able to some how play a long with him in that game. ( http://youtu.be/UWUUGb5g8Oo ) So in closing: I don't let the game issues bother me in the least. It's the people who are playing with me that make it a fun game.

Soooo true oldman I`ve been saying that for years using old EQ as a example the thing that made EQ great , while it did have a grind , and unforgiving death penality etc . But it was the Community that was in that game that made the game great . A lot of games made in the last few years at least to me have a sense of no community due to game desgin overall being made to where you can solo from lvl 1 to max and never need anyone else . thus a large portion of the players are solo which hurts the community over all . That`s one thing we have here with our server events . because a game with no community isn`t worth playing may as wel play a single player game ha ha
