Marketplace Questions - Help!

So, at Twilah's request I went to the Marketplace to try to put in an order for some gear for my fresh 80 instead of going to the TP, I ran in to the following problems.

Firstly, it took me 20 minutes before I could figure out how to place an order!  This problem was resolved, it is more some feed back on the layout/instructions.  I'd suggest you make it way more clear in the instructions or move the search box to a more central location on the screen with a big header over it!

Now, I was advised to get some lvl 80 green "Explorer" gear to wear when doing less challenging content to increase my drops.  I went to the TP and searched for lvl 80 green armour with "explorer" in the name and found the heavy armour is "Explorer's Barbaric Xxxxx".  I went to the Marketplace and started typing this in and the items popped up, I clicked on the boots ready to order and the item it took me to was a lvl 75 Blue item with the same name.

I asked in raidcall and people said that not all the items were inputted in the database yet and it's a mammoth task which is fine, but what do I do in this case?  Do I bug someone to add the items I need so I can order them or should I locate the items another way?  I was planning on providing mats so if I find an in guild crafter who wants to craft for me is there a way I can transfer them the FVC for the crafting fee (looks like it would be 10% of the total price for the item) without having to bug someont to create the specific item?

I don't want to be a pain, I was just going to go through the TP but Twilah convinced me to utilise the Family MP.  If I can't because the item isn't there and our already overworked elders don't have time to add them then it's really no problem for me locate the items via tp or whatever.

On a related note, when I check the box that I will provide materials for a pair of boots, am I supposed to provide the boot soles, boot lining and the insignia or can I provide the raw mats?(ore/cloth/thread and whatever teeth/claws/scales are needed)

Looks like the Explorer heavy armor set hasn't been input yet. Recipes are input by family members, so you'll need an Armorsmith capable of making the items to input the recipes before you can order them. They will get Discovery Points for doing so (and this is the only way to get them in GW2), so it should be fairly simple to find a willing participant. If you have some of the mats for an item, but not all, then I would check "Player Provided Materials" when you order the item, then make a note of what you can provide in the "Buyer's Note" field. Then, whoever wants to fill your order can contact you to get the mats you already have.

I can make them all for you tonight and input the recipes for future orders. I've got the mats, but am at work right now. I spent about eight hours inputting recipes over the Holiday weekend but then just needed a break :) The marketplace is a work in progress with the new game, and the more people use it and input recipes/order the better it will become...like any tool. By all mean use the TP - I didn't mean to twist your arm - if you need it this morning. But it's feedback like this on what is missing from our marketplace that helps the crafters input missing recipes :) As it stands right now, it is a very long process of going back and forth, recipe by recipe, to see what is "missing".

Thanks to the people who are inputting recipes and the elders who can approve them. I'm still doing a slow plug away at crafting and not up to the L400 exotics except for one or two armor pieces already listed. We definitely do not have everything listed here yet and with the base level stuff I helped with to make the marketplace possible, I know it gets tedious and your eyes cross if you do it too long. ::chuckles:: However, we have made progress and keep doing so. Slam them recipes in there so we can make the orders. You never know what people will want if they can find it on there. Remember as stated in several places over time - if you have the mats for an item you can say you will supply them and use less points for those of you newer to the family and can't slam out points like us old timers. ;) It still lets people get points and the thrill of knowing they created something for family. The marketplace lets players of all time zones order and fill orders without the worry of not beeing in same guild chat, not on raidcall or around at the same time so no missing out other than someone seeing something first.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

@ Aggro http://www.gaiscioch.com/tavern/guildwars_crafting/post_40068.html Wildflower's guide to entering marketplace items. Please read it all the way through and it will answer every question. Please do!!!! It's a little intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it you will see it's actually quite easy. Since I don't have two computers I put GW2 in a "window" and pulled up the website here so I could see both at the same time when doing this. Made is sooooooooooo much easier. Take special note of how to enter the description, especially "Upgrade Slot Available" and "Soulbound on Use" Also note they may not be available right away. An Elder still has to check and approve them. Poor Izzy finally told me to go outside and play last weekend :)

I'm still confused on how to check for missing recipes. I probably have some recipes that aren't in the database. @Pete: This is strictly up to you, but I've personally found that its more cost effective in time and coin, to just buy my Masterwork (green) items from the TP, even if I can make them. (It will also save your Marketplace points for when you want to order Exotics.) However, the prices for Rares and Exotics are slowly increasing, so you might find its more cost effective to order those from the Marketplace, especially if you supply some mats.

@Sekkerhund - I just took some screenshots on how to browse the market and wanted to post a guide (can you tell I am really bored at work today??!!) Unfortunately photobucket is blocked so I can't upload my images :( But here's my step-by-step as best I can explain: 1. Click on the Marketplace icon in the top right-hand side of the menu. 2. Choose GW2 as the game 3. Under the reddish words, you will see three tabs. Choose the second tab "Browse Marketplace" 4. On this screen you will see every crafting discipline listed in white across the bottom and the respective sub categories. If you want to check all available Heavy Armor Recipes you will see "Armorsmithing" and "Heavy Armor". Click "Heavy Armor" 5. This brings up every recipe that has been successfully added. From this screen you can shop. They are loosely in level order, but some pieces fall in odd spots and I don't know why, so make sure you browse entirely before assuming a recipe is not there.

Pete I put in all the recipes I had, and it's very important no one add a recipe unless you have actually discovered it. Having said that, I'm not sure there is a green level 80 explorer's armor. There is a yellow I can make and a blue level 75. It could be I just haven't discovered it, but I looked on a couple gw2 armorsmith databases and don't see one. Let's see what Sekkerhund and Aggro can find out today :) I won't be on until after 6 my time (CST). And yeah, to me that's the best way to browse the marketplace because you can see everything.

Blues/Greens the highest craftable is level 75. Level 80 only has Yellows/oranges.

There were level 80 green ones on the TP last night, that's how I figured out their name to search the marketplace for them! Here is a link to GW2 wiki showing them: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Barbaric_Boots and here they are on GW2DB http://www.gw2db.com/recipes/6994-explorers-barbaric-boots I really don't want to put anyone out though, if you don't have the recipe that's absolutely fine, don't spend time hunting it down for me. I think the whole set was less than 12s on the AH, it was between 1.5s and 2.5s per piece.

@ Gaspara, there are masterwork versions of insignias where you can make level 80 green items. So far we have Rampager's Valkyrie and Carrion's on the Marketplace for heavy armor. I hope others can discover more!! There's so much to discover in the game. I lurv it.

I stand corrected which is odd because I swear I remember having to choose between wearing level 75 greens or level 80 rares while farming for exotics on my alt. It appears the T5 greens available through regular discovery are in fact level 80 unlike the blues which are 75. Anyone who is a level 350+ armorsmith should be able to craft this for you with the materials. You can approach this a couple of ways from my experience. 1) Find someone who can make it and knows how to put recipes in and have them make it for you to discover it, then have them enter the recipe and you can put a claim in for it and detail that it has already been filled. This way they get credit for the crafting towards their artisan rank and we continue to grow the marketplace. 2) Put in a request for a similar item but specify in the details the difference. Option 1 is more time consuming for both yourself and the crafter but is the right path in the long run.

After all this, I did end up buying the pieces I needed on the TP - mainly because they were a fraction of the cost of the components. I'll use the marketplace for my dungeon gear set (when I figure out what it's going to be!)

Price of Rares and Exotics on the TP is going up daily, so you will probably want to order from the GSCH Marketplace. Karma and/or dungeon drops is almost becoming more time and cost effective. I'm already considering asking that Globs of Ectoplasm MP value be re-visited because their cost has more than doubled over the past few weeks and the salvage rate seems to have been nerfed. Out of 14 level 80 rares, using a Master kit, (even though Anet claims kit type doesn't affect Glob salvage) I got Ectos from only 5 salvages, for a total of 9 Globs. I guess you could say its bad luck, but just read the official forums. Its a definite change. The current price of Globs keeps rising. Yesterday it was ~36s, as I type this, its listing 37s 20c. O.O Yea. Its looking grim for end-game crafting if it doesn't stabilize. Anyway, Greens are best bang for your buck if bought from the TP. I'd recommend making do and just ordering exotics, or buying them with Karma. If you're doing dungeons, by all means, use the tokens.

Our marketplace is based on the sell price to an NPC merchant to keep everything stabilized. In any game, we have not based the marketplace on the fluctuating and fickle prices of the in game auction houses. If we raised the price of globs then everything using them would go up too. Our marketplace is not really about the points, but being able to help the members of the family. Yes, you get points and spend points for things, but that really should not be the first concern, in my opinion. As for those globs members have ordered, I'm quite sure they are using them for making exotic gear to help out a family member. We already know getting items off our marketplace and then selling them in the auction is a HUGE no-no. It is your choice whether you want to help the family by filling orders on the marketplace or selling what you obtained for in-game coin.

Pete, I'm glad you got outfitted! Don't forget your accessories :) I have not crawled through the jewelcrafting section of our marketplace yet, but if you need anything and it's not there just post it here maybe for a crafter to investigate. @ Sekkerhund, I do agree with you on a certain level about the globs. I have eight in my bank and could make back some of the gold I have spent crafting for others by unloading them on the TP and in my mind that would be fair economically. But then I think, "I wouldn't HAVE those globs if I weren't part of this guild and had so many people helping me learn about this stuff and willing to group with me." It's not an apples-to-apples comparison, if that makes sense. Oh and Edit: The Black Lion salvage kits have been key for me getting so many of these globs - not sure why since I refuse to do math outside of work. I have a ton from the Halloween event...like 75 more...and hope to get my Guardian in the level 70 zones soon so I can start breaking down more stuffs to replenish what I donate this weekend.

Yeah, I checked the cost of the components on the AH and for boots it came out to be approximately 18 silver 2* mithril ingots @ 61c each 2* bolt of silk @ 24c each 6* spool of silk thread @ 48c each 8* large claw @ 1s67c each total = 17s94c The finished boots were on sale for 2s... I think it's because people them to skillup armorsmithing and are just looking to sell them off for higher than the vendor cost to recoup some of the costs of skilling up.

You get Globs of Ectoplasm from salvaging level 68+ rares and exotics. There is only a chance you get these, and you should use master salvaging kits or higher if this is your goal in salvaging. What you are looking for is "25% chance of rarer materials" on the master salvage kit, "50% chance of rarer materials" on the Black Lion Salvage kit. So the "xx% chance of rarer materials" is what your odds are no matter what salvage kit you use. The Globs are used in most level 80 crafting of exotics.

I vendored all of mine, but I also didn't realize that the blues were not soulbound until recently. I really wish I had kept the accessories in my bank for alts, since I usually go with toughness on those for all my toons. Leather and cloth armor I still salvage with basic kits to bank cloth and leather scraps. That's just my way, I'm sure other peeps do different things.

Greens you can often find in the TP for 1c over vendor price (which is actually a sizable loss for the person listing them in the TP due to the fees). That is pretty much always your best bet for greens.
