Hello Bookahs:

After talking to some of you in Raidcall about dailies I realized many things I found through the course of doing my daily, other people had yet to discover themselves. So I am writing a little guide to help everyone of every level

As you know with the addition to jugs of liquid karma, dailies can net you good karma, exp, money and mystic coins. You do have a random chance to get an extra item, like a black lion salvage kit, repair canister and other stuff which is often found in mystic chests.

Dailies resent at 7pm EST so you have 24 hours to knock out these objectives, and I will show you how to do so easily, so no one is left behind, even if you don’t play a lot every day.

Daily Kills: This is the easiest to get. With doing the other daily requirements you rarely have to try and max this

Daily Kill Variety: Now this one can be a pain in the butt, and usually this task and daily events will be the last one you need. You need to kill one of each type or family of mobs. There are a couple ways to get this easy, let me explain.

Kill critters: You know those little critters with the white names that die in one shot? Kill them! Rabbits, rats, pigs, eagles, hawks, raccoons mosquitos, salmon, cows, crows, spiders. Wipe them out, all of them! They count towards kill type. I can get nearly half my goal doing this.

Risen are one family and count as one type. If you want to get your daily get out of Orr.

Get in the water. Kill things like krait, skelk, jellyfish, crabs, any fish.

Change your locale: Some zones have enough variety to get your daily, others do not. A quick and easy way is to log off your alts in different areas. I like to put my alts in starter areas like outside of Hoelbrak, or the Black Citadel. I can easily get 4-5 mob types in these areas. This works good if you do not want your main traveling around all the time wasting waypoint travel money to get your daily. Keep some copper tools on them so they can hit a few nodes in the process.

Daily Gatherer: Second easiest because nodes are static and abundant. As long as you have all the tools it’s simple. Here is a tip though. Harvesting a higher level node with a wrong , lower level tool gets you “ruined” ore, wood fiber. These count for daily. You do not have to be successful in order to get credit. So for example if you are in a zone with platinum ore, and you already have more then you ever need, but you have 10 copper mining picks wasting a bag slot then use them. If you are not in a rush I suggest not doing this.

Daily Events: This can be the worst of them all. There is never a event around when you really need one.  Let’s try to break this down and this depends on your level

Use an Alt: Like I mentioned in the Daily Kill Variety, I log off alts in starter areas or areas that are high traffic. I use my alts to do events that are very frequently being recycled.

Stick around: So many people walk away when a event is actually a chain event. Some events have 3-4 in a row depending when you show up.  Also knowing where these meta events are and running by them to see if they are going on is very beneficial.

Orr: Event chains everywhere, getting 5 for your daily is a cakewalk. However, do not stroll into Orr if you have not first received your kill variety.

WvW: Same as Orr. Do not go into WvW until you have your kill variety and harvesting goal. Do not enter a pvp area to accomplish pve goals, especially in a group/guild event. There is a number of reasons why but I do not want to get into it.

Remember, failed events do not count!

So that’s it in a nutshell, but wait! Do not complete your daily just yet! lulwut??!

Item rewards are account bound but remember what character finishes the daily will be scaled to the reward in terms of exp, and money.

If you need money: Make sure your highest level character completes the daily

If you need to level: Make sure your character or alt that needs exp completes it.

Now let the carnage begin!

WvW can actually be a great way to start your daily. Every enemy kill counts as a kill, every defense and cap counts as events and all the different types of enemy npcs (scouts, guards, supervisor) and even humans count as kill varieties, there are also a lot of those white mobs you mentioned that won't slow you down or cause crosses because only one person can ever attack them. Though I agree with you about not endorsing people spending time killing mobs or harvesting for your daily while in WvW.

It's worth noting the total numbers required for the daily: Kills: 60 - anything that can die counts for this, including critters (did you know that there's an achievement for killing critters?) Kill Variety: 15 - generally the last word in the creature's name is it's type (Ettin, Moa, Skelk, etc). Critters count Gathering: 20 - Each swing of the axe/pick/sickle counts as one, so a few trees and ores should take care of this Events: 5 - Anything that puts a medal in the upper right of your screen counts, be it success or failure. Running with a zerg in WvW is by far the fastest way to get this. Jugs of Liquid Karma by themselves are worth 4500 karma each. With a Karma Booster, the guild 15% karma bonus, and the 5% karma guild banner, they are worth 7650 karma each. There are other karma bonuses as well (Outmanned, for example), but they don't seem to stack. I'm holding onto my jugs until we can get all of these bonuses together to maximize their effectiveness.

I usually do most of my daily around Frostgorge because there is a pretty good variety of mobs up there (this is for level 70+ characters, of course): moose, dolyak, skelk, drake, Grawl, ice wurm, moa, wolf, Auriak, ice elemental, imps, risen Quaggan, those big icy guys, jellyfish and the other 2 or so fish types. When I return to Lion's Arch, I check my daily, and I usually go just north of LA to finish if I need more variety - Glendarran Fields has a large variety of mobs, including fireflies, bats, and grubs, and spiders right outside the portal. There's also barracuda, minotaurs and Earth elementals up towards the NE corner of the zone. Between these two zones, it's pretty easy to get 15 different types of mobs.

I would change the time in your post to be either 0000 (midnight) GMT (UTC) or 1600 (4:00pm) pacific/server. That'd make the post less confusing for a lot of people I bet. I, for one, can do my time changes from GMT and Pacific far more easily than from eastern, even though I know the US time zones having lived in the US all my life. I do feel GMT (UTC) is the best choice, we do have a lot of non-American, USA or otherwise, players who may not know what the timezone differences to eastern time but will know GMT (UTC), server/Pacific, or both.

Starter zone outside Hoelbrak (sp?) is where I do my daily. The cave in the south has a 3 part chain event and the sons of savnir invading the bears area refreshes at least every 10 min, same for the stampeding minotaurs. Plus you can get your kill variety knocked out in that same small level 1-5 area as it has good variety. I can usually have my daily done in 15-20 min if not faster in that zone. Hope that helps.

I have found that you can get all kill varieties (more than 15 types) from Gendarran Fields as well as gatherings needed. Also note that killing pigs, frogs, tropical birds, mosquitoes etc (AKA indiscriminates) do not count as kill varieties except for once no matter how many you kill. Although they do count as kills for the 60 daily kills. If you need fast events, I have found it faster to get them in WvW then anywhere else. Just follow the Zerg and you will have them pretty fast. Killing other opponent's sentry can make it go even faster. This takes me 30 minutes daily at the very most. Has taken me as short as 17 minutes.
