Armor and Weapon Stat Scaling ?0.o?

I'm a little mystified by how armor and weapon scaling works and I'd like to know before I prep up to hit up the ascalonian catacombs explorable in a couple of days. I'd like to put big fat magic find and gold find on my armor but I don't know if it would be useful to get anything above level 60 (When you can put superiors on). Additionally, will I hurt myself much if I switch to a cheaper armorset just to put the magic find on?

So the questions in order

Do these stats scale to your level when you're being level capped?

If so how does that work? Does it cap them off at a certain level? Does it scale them into a range depending on the quality of the armor for your real level? Does it scale them to a range within max total values?

What about runes? Does my magic find scale as well?

Believe it or not there is no scaling for gear or traits. The only scaling is of your stats provided by your level. This makes up a fairly large portion of your stats, but armor and trait line stats still set level 80s pretty far ahead of lower levels.

Weapon damage and your base stats scale, but I think that's it. My condition damage from gear seems to stay the same, as does my stacking +cond dmg weapon sigil. I would imagine that gold/magic find would stay the same as well.

The way they scale things is one of the reasons I hate the 'explorer' requirement for legendaries. Yes it keeps the lower level Zones in use but the experience foe actual low levels is very watered down when those challenging events that you and I remember have ahalf a dozen 80's blasting thru them. I think they need to revamp their scaling methodology.

If everything scaled, and a lvl 80 became truly equal to a level 10 in a level 10 area, then what would be the point of being level 80? Personally I think the opposite - maybe I shouldn't be 1-shotting level 60 mobs at level 80, but I think I should be basically invincible in Queensdale. Besides, if the lvl 80's weren't running around in the lower areas doing things, those places would probably be empty save for the couple of people leveling. I appreciate having the 80's around Diessa Plateau, because it means there will be people helping when dynamic events pop.
