I think W v W v W is a good idea. I like many things about it.

One thing i like about GW2 WvWvW is the Medevil warfare mainly the Seige Weapons (Ex: Balista, Cannon, Catapolt, Arrowcart).

Another thing I like about WvWvW is the well thought out design of 3 world war while stoping things such as Base camping, and over all PVP greifing.

Much to be listed last but definately not least, the ability to upgrade and claim bases in the name of your Guild. All people have that want to claim something in the name of their guild if they play with a guild as hard working as Gaiscioch, so why not do it when we can.

I'd rather be able to build castles and keeps than just claim them but this will do for now :)

::chuckles at Elth:: That would be cool. I love that aspect in the single player games that I have liked over the years and the strategy that goes with it. However, at least we have a "playground" for war that is quite impressive considering the choices out there for MMOs right now.

I think that until the orb hacking issue is fixed, no server will be able to truly say that they've won or lost. In my opinion, the entire competition is ruined the moment someone hacks and that makes it into a no contest.

How do they "Hack the Orb"? I am curious about this because i was in SoR Borderlands and we had our inner garrison wall still up when they somehow took our orb and escaped with it. Does anybody know how this is done? Meaning how do we prevent it. is it an exploit that they are using or is it strait out code hacking to rearange the game to their liking (ie put them where they want to be, flying, etc). If it is an exploit we can watch for it and at least try and stop it. if it is strait hacking then there is nothing we can do except fraps is and send it to anet so the offending party is banned.

Not having been a big PvPer in the past, I'm enjoying WvWvW more than I thought I would. It's pretty gratifying to be able to employ some strategy to the attack/defense dynamic beyond just watching groups of players throw themselves at each other until whichever has the biggest numbers is left standing. Haven't tried SPvP yet though, so to anyone who has played that, a question: how does it square up against WvWvW? I understand they're totally different animals, I'm just curious if there are any parallels at all.

sPvP is fast-paced, and really character-skill based. The maps are all capture-the-node, like Rift's Codex or WoW's Arathi Basin. There's a map with an underwater node, a map with a trebuchet, a little variety. sPvP you need to play with your team, but you'll often have 1v1 2v2 2v3 sort of matchups. Deploy your skills and counter the other. Really helps to know your profession well, and be quick and skilled. Whereas I see WvW as more group-based. There's some parts of sPvP that I wish were different -- often I'll enter a game and be the only person on my side, or only one teammate on maps that are built for 8v8. Also there's notable lack of balance between professions. One sort of weird thing is whatever you do in sPvP stays in sPvP. You rank up, can get new gear and whatnot, but it's only for sPvP. Whereas WvW gets you fame and fortune and everything that goes with it which you can take with you when you leave. Edit-let me give an example -- Say I'm on an elementalist. I have attacks that do a lot of damage, but take a bit of time to land, say the Dragon Tooth fire scepter attack #2. In PvE, you can cast it, cuz mobs never dodge. In WvW, you can just cast it, cuz the player you're attacking prob'ly can't even see you. In sPvP, if I want to land that attack, I need to immobilize or knock down (say Earth 4, or my immobilize utility) before casting it, else it misses every time.

At Ruwund - there are a number of ways people have "hacked" the Orb, but the three most common seem to be... 1. The legitimate way. Basically this involves breaking down the doors and infiltrating Mesmers inside during all the confusion. The Mesmers find a nice quiet place to hide away unnoticed, and once things calm down and the majority of defenders have left for other objectives, use their portal ability to get a small strike team inside to break the alter and take off with the orb. Alternatively any players who can remain undetected within the keep could do this - once in, getting out is easy. Useful for those times when your team wipes within the Lord Room on an assault, or those times the enemy take your keep, and don't bother to move the Orb to a new location. Always search any objective (barring supply camps) after a capture for any enemy players hiding away, and if you capture a Keep with an Orb, best to move the Orb to a more secure keep, as Keeps need a lot of searching to ensure no enemy are left inside. 2. The exploitive way. Occasionally there have been reports of abilities or bugs that players can use to get past walls. Pretty much anything ingame used to get past walls that doesn't involve breaking down the gate/wall, or already having a Mesmer inside, is an exploit and should be avoided and reported. 3. The genuine Hack. There are reports of players genuinely hacking the game to allow their characters to ignore game physics and fly over walls and/or even through the walls. These will usually be individuals, and unless you can keep vigilant watch over the orb 24/7, there is little you can do to stop them. Catching them out is a matter of pure luck.

I like WvW but honestly I expected more. It doesnt "feel" like you're fighting for your homeland like DAoC did. There's nothing scary about running around by yourself. For some reason games can't recapture the pyschology DAoC had and I compare everything to that and these new games just fall flat for ME. I don't know why someone won't make something cool again with improved rules and new graphics they could just copy the old DAoC game. heh Game makers don't seem to understand the psychology of DAoC, I'm not sure Mythic did, probably just got lucky.

So glad to be participating in PvP/WvW combat reminiscent of DAoC's amazing 3-faction RvR. I am level 63 now almost entirely from WvW. I think GW2 has some very fun PvE, but WvW keeps me away. ;) WvW is much more fun with GSCH & organization.

I would love to build towers and Keeps also - that would be way cool to put a tower up at a fork in the road that led to one of the keeps that we controled - that would then spawn guards. Now, since this might take them some time to implement - if ever - maybe they would let us put up roadblocks - the darn Sons of Svanir put them up all over the roads I travel... a few felled trees and a couple of Veteran Guards sure would slow down the opponents supply runs ... < insert evil cackle > (My main is now a necro - a cross somewhere between a witch and a shaman... so I cackle, I don't laugh :) )
