Names - Slow on the draw?

You would think a name like Onchu would be easy to get, but no. I was in a few minutes after the servers went up and still couldn't grab the name I wanted.

Did anyone else miss out on that special name you wanted?

It was almost humorous. At one point, i was just typing random stuff, and even jibberish - nonsense names were taken. Out of 8 toons, I only got 3 that were close to what I wanted. I guess I could have taken the advice of making a toon with a first name / Last name. But i've always just used one name. I'm certain many names were already taken from GW1, and carried over to GW2.

Only two worded names could be carried from GW1 to GW2. It seems players were just THAT fast with the single word names.

I could not get Hex >.< I got Hexx, Hexy, and Hexything though...mwahahaha!

The only single names I managed to get were Embercap and Elthuzar. Ironbark and Elth were taken within minutes...

I was making names very fast just to get them in. I was on my 3rd toon and went for Diella it was taken. I was surprised then realized the reason it had been taken this morning was I had already created a character with that name. Crazy being name ninjaed by your self. I will be giving all my character a last name in honor of our guild their last name will be Goshkia. Because writing the whole name takes up way too many letters.

I'm pretty sure it was still 9:00 when I hit go on "Mulch" and my other one-word names. "Bark Mulch" was already taken, but I knew that cuz it was taken in GW1, too. My first MMO, EQ, got me used to always having weird spellings. GW2 is sure to be the very worst for that, with the "there can be only one" policy.

Someone beat me to "Revan" by mere seconds. :( However, I did get "Revyn," "Revynn," and some other names I wanted. :)

I managed to get Mezzi :D Havent tried any others, figure if I dont get the one word name Ill just add a last name and that should work.

I got Briseadh, my main, as one word to match the name I use here and in Raidcall. I have yet to make the other toons and I won't mind if they have to have last names.

I added last names to get the name I wanted. I only got one preplanned name.

Both one word name and full name have been grabbed by others... So I have to change to another last name instead...

Started trying to get in as soon as they flipped the switch. 4 out of 5 of my names were already taken...so had to go with alternate spellings. Also, my wife was trying to get her names as well, and it was the same story. We have "matched" names for our characters, so it was doubly frustrating. Here's what we ended up with... Mayem taken, but got Mayhemm. "Myschief & Mayemm" (Asura rangers) Dresden taken, but got Drezden. "Drezden & Karrin" (Human elementalist) Sven taken, but got Svenn. "Sven & Svestra" (Norn) Brain and several variants taken, but got Dabrain. "Pynkee & Dabrain" (Asura...she calls them mice, hehe) Got Lonespirit! "Lonespirit & Moonrey" (Sylvari) Still need to remake most of them, we were tired and getting frustrated with the chaos last night.

I was able to get Moxie & Chixi, both were names which had been taken during the stress tests. All the rest of my characters will have to have last names, which is fine by me!

I really didn't expect to get most of my single names, but thought I'd push my luck. I hit gold with my first name, "Lichen" then I failed to get Sylva, Tesla, Pixel, Flux, Lyca, Lilin and Taser. I then went through my second tier of names (yes, I had come prepared!) I snagged Sylva Birchtree (which in hindsight made way more sense than the single name), then I got Enochia (one of my older MMO names). As an afterthought, I tried Emba (another name I've used before) for my Ele and was surprised to find it not taken. Lastly, I tried and got Skaro (prizes for guessing where that came from). So, all in all not too shabby. I'm quite happy with what I got.

I managed to get Jerich, Strawn, Foss, Aaria, Kenak, Effort and Serepha. I could not get Jonas and Katarina.

arrrgh, same here someone must have been really fast though, because i was in right at 12 EST

I already had a plan to use 3 word names - when I first started using Morigana many, many years ago, I had no issues witht he way I spelled it - but as of late it was taken a lot. With adding to it, I knew I wouldn't have an issue and it actually makes my life simpler (although my deepest sympathies for those that have to type it into chat) Morigana Bean Sidhe (Morigana of the fairy people or "of the mounds") Elementalist Morigana Na Mire (Morigana the Mad) Engineer Morigana Bean Nighe (Morigana the Banshee) Ranger Have all found a home in GW2 and after 3 days - still can't make up my mind on which one I like best. :)

I was surprised to get Niri and Nyri both. Usually I have to go with one or the other since they get taken often in games. And of course I got Nirikins for my main..but thats a given. I was surprised to discover a day later that Nybil was still free as well.

I know that as soon as the prelaunch was up, I logged in to snatch my 4 names that I normally use, and 2 out of 4 were already taken. I am just grateful there is room for a last name as well.

Couldn't get Aeos...... :( But, I did get Aeosyn :)

My GW1 name was reserved even though my gw1 account didn't meet the requirements to reserve names. I played a trial only and very long ago so I never linked the two accounts. Therefore, I blocked myself from my own name :P
