I'm So Torn

What to do? What to do?

Do I resurrect my gw1 memser in gw2 as a human or sylvari?  Or do I just make a sylvari ranger and human memser?  The anticpation is killing me :)

The rub of it all is that I have speaking engagements all weekend so the soonest I'll be able to mess with the character creator is Mon/Tue.  And knowing me I'll be a day a two in there before I actually see the light of day!

So you all better keep the posts going so that I can at least read and live vicariously through you while I'm out and about!

Hmmm. Sylvari Mesmer sounds pretty badass. :D I'd go for it if you like the Sylvari lore. I'm going Sylvari Warrior, which isn't a common combination either. Sylvari is great because really any combination fits with it. They are a brand new race to Tyria, probably in response to the Elder Dragons, so naturally they will pick up whatever weapon is most effective for them. My Sylvari uses a Rifle, which seems weird at first but I got used to it. :) They're curious. Why wouldn't they be curious about all the technology as well? Sylvari Engineer? Do it!

yep I have my race /classes picked already . 1. sylvari mesmer . 2. Norn elmentalist 3. Asura Engineer 4. Human Guardian . Maybe they are secretly lorax and ecosystem nuts and are trying to save the trees and shun technology lol .

Most of mine are going to probably be Asura. I Love those little maniacs. So far my character list looks like this: 1. Asura Engineer. 2. Norn Guardian. 3. Charr Warrior. 4. Human Mesmer. 5. Sylvari Ranger. 6. Asura Elementalist. 7. Asura Necromancer. 8. Asura Thief. All of which is subject to change lol. My first instinct was to want to make them all Asura but then came to my senses as I wanted to play through all of the races story lines.

I really liked the way the Sylvari Elementalist looked with the mushroom cap head - but I can't get into RP'ing one. Whereas the Norn comes so naturally for me - and I have to be able to get into my RP aspect as my relationship with my character has to be established and feel right. But that is just me - I had an issue with ... "Everything has a right to grow, but here - eat my Dragon's Breath and die you mofo". :(

Morigana, I'm the same way. Even if I am not totally "100%" roleplaying I have to like the feel of the race/class combination I make. At the very least, in my head, my character has a backstory and a personality that guides their choices in game. It's how I have fun. =)

I`m the same i don`t actualy rp one but when i make them it`s from a rp aspect , for instance my norn elmentalist is played from a norn shaman aspect. Since shaman are a large part of their very nature as they have shamans for each of the sprits, and great halls set up for each in their captial, plus being able to shapeshift etc should be fun .

I decided on my characters strictly on a roleplaying basis. That's why some of them are "obvious": 1) Asura Elementalist (artificer/jeweler) 2) Human Mesmer (tailor/cook) 3) Charr Engineer (huntsman/leatherworker) 4) Norn Guardian (weaponsmith/armorsmith) 5) Sylvari Ranger (no crafting for now) I have their backstories and personalities in my head, all of them fitting with lore and the kind of character I'd like to play. BTW, is it Friday yet? :-)

I'd probably pick it based on racial armor or storylines. Human storylines are about a lost sister/parents/joining the circus while the 3 choices for sylvari are King Arthur story based. One in particular is based on the Green Knight story. I tend to pick off of racial armors first and the humans have some great looking light armor sets.

I still don't know what all i'm going to make and which races they will be :) I'll likely roll at least one of Sylvari, Human, and Asura.

You'll want to vary their races so you have access to all of the starter areas and therefore more resource variety if you're a crafter. I'd say if you're set on the Mesmer then start with both a Sylvari and Human Mesmer and level them to 10. Then just pick the storyline/character that you like the most and delete the other.

The clear choice to is roll Asura. That is all.

I'm torn as well...having such a hard time deciding on race/class combos. My "main" will be an engineer, but I can't decide between charr or asuran. I may make my necromancer a norn just to be different, but haven't decided there either. Other than those two, I'm going to have: Norn Ranger Human Guardian Sylvari Mesmer Asuran Thief Charr Elementalist Norn Warrior

Well if it's just a matter of filling up my character slots I'm going with (for now): Human Mesmer Sylvari Ranger Norn Warrior Asuran Elementalist Human Guardian Sylvari or Asuran Thief and possibly a Charr Engineer. But we all know that the only good Charr is a dead Charr. (Sorry old habits hard to break lol)

I gotta say the Sylvari Mesmer clothing looked really cool on the youtube video I saw earlier. Made them look kinda like a flower.
