Hi, so for a few days I have been thinking of what my main class will be for pvp Like example WvW and such, So i Chose ranger as my main And I was just wondering what race would be the best for rager like I was think Salvari because they have Grasping vines and thats really good but i was also thinking that they have a good Racial heal and there was this elite skill but I dont know if it is very good maby you could help me its call take root and way I think this will be good for my character because I will be really speced for damage and Btw what is better gun or Bow ?. any way I will have Gun/bow and gratesword is very powerful so I was hopeing that you can tell me what you think about this subject all of the other Thoughts you have on racial classes and what better for PvP bow or gun. I have not given them much attention as they're not as they cannot be equipped in structured PvP. ( see http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Racial_skill ) I didn't see anything regarding WvW yet, so maybe they are worth another look. Given that they are intended value is less then the profession equivalent I don't expect anything we do find to remain 'unadjusted' for long. The grasping vines used to be great before they nerfed it. It's still pretty good, but way less effective. It used to be AOE. Now, it's single target and it's difficult to snare anybody that's moving. If you can find an enemy that's standing still and get it to root them, it's still a very good move. I haven't really tested out the other races, but the Sylvari racials seem a little underwhelming to me. Traps for conditional builds and wildnerness survival skills seem like the most effective utility skills for me. It's too bad they nerfed the spirits, I didn't get a chance to try them before they made them less effective.

Seems like there's some overlap between the Ranger class in particular and sylvari racial utility and elite skills. - Healing Seed (sylv) or Healing Spring (ranger) - Grasping Vines (sylv) or Entangle (ranger) - Druid Spirit is kinda sorta like another pet - Take Root is the only ability that ranger doesn't have something similar for. Another approach would be to think about what Ranger lacks, and look for racial skills that fill in the gaps. Or your could do what I do and choose based on how it looks and ignore the racials skills. :P

Smaller target box ftw! Thats why I'm going Asura (plus they look really cool). =)

The asura thing has been brought up in other forums I've been tracking. "All races are going to have same size target box." is the usual retort. I haven't had a chance to test it myself. Racial skills wise, for a ranger, I think sylvari for the extra root or charr for warband support. The former would be for those with a more 1v1 play style. The latter would be more for mass melee to me. There's my $0.02. Hope it helps. =) -Smyth

If you plan on pvp i would suggest char just because of their elite skill charzooka. Besides that probably a sylvavi due to their root.
