We tried several variation of the normal strat to take down Manticor. Which one did everyone think we did best at?

1. The bottom team goes down, spear team in back and everyone else on tank.

2. The Burn method. No one does down, Spear team, rest on tank.

3. The old method, everyone spread out, down team, stack in back on tank and everyone block and move.

We need to decide which one and fine tune it.

I think we did best with the burn method. We only did that one twice. Unknown factors do we have enough dps get it done in 2 minutes and how to keep the tank alive, but i think we can do it this way.

This one I am not sure how to put so here goes. Several members of the group have complete SO with other guilds using other methods. We still need to respect each other we there are suggestions to be made. RIght now we do not have room for ego and attitude. Enough said.

Things we need to do:

1. Pick a strat to work on.

2. Make sure we are all doing our maxed dps and heals

3. Learn how to dance.

Please add your thoughts to this post, pick a strat and leanr to dance

I think maybe one of the biggest things that would benefit the group overall would be a cue session.  By this I mean going in and not worrying about anything other than learning the animations.  The boss gives some nice cues for popcorn, for the stomp, and for the portal.  I'm not sure if people are having issues with the cues or not, but I found that they are extremely helpful when I use them.

For example, the cue for popcorn is when Mantikora rears on his back legs.  At which point moving a little can be the difference between reacting and getting out of popcorn and dying in it.  It is simple to move with instants when you have popcorn and are already moving.  It takes a dodge roll and quick reaction otherwise.

His stomp is easy as it is cued by the big red circle, I doubt anyone is missing that.

The portal cue actually has a green image of the serpent aspect come up out of the boss, and the portal comes as the image dives back into the boss.  For the burn strategy, moving once again made this easy, as when it dropped on me I just hit sprint and was clear.

Spear team out worked very well when we weren't sucked down, just remember that the very edge of the poison can be marked a little shy of where you actually take damage.  This can easily kill you if you are close but not in a poison area from the spears.

I don't know if any of your regulars do feel that looking for the cues would help them, but working on moving out of popcorn via watching the tell and moving when it is seen would probably keep some of the deaths from it down.

For me, I like the burn method, we only gave it a couple of tries and did not get enough time to figure out the moves for it.  For me I think we need to pick one method and stay with it.  Spend more time on pulls and very little discussion between the pulls.  We have to learn the dance and the only way todo it is by doing the dance not discussing it for most of the raid.

here is one guilds take on "the burn method", please note DPS and Healer requirements.  I think we could pull this off if we tweek our skills a little.  The "dance" is in section one, the builds/skills in section four.

Personally, I've only completed SO using "the old method" (with Dreadlords).  This seems like the best strat if both top and bottom teams can stay alive for 2-3 rotations.  Seems like we either do well on top OR bottom, but rarely both.  We got manti to around 30% one time when we were able to pull off 2 rotations.

Our motto of play how you want stands, but this is end game raiding meant for the more than "casual" players.  We each need to min/max.  I suggest each primary and alternate team member have their gear, CP, Attributes, mundus, consumables, and skills reviewed and improvements made.  Then run DPS checks.  If we take the time to do this I think we can succeed using the old method, that is my vote.

I don't like option 1.  Either 2 or 3 should be picked with people set to what they do. THEN determine what stats are really needed and skills definitely needed to fill the strat to do.

We also seem to talk too much about it, rather than doing it. Also, I'm rather sick of hearing Prissy having to tell people to take a deep breath. I know I made comments of what I thought I saw to help, but left it at that. Either we can figure it out or we can't. I will note I hear less tension in voices with other groups even with first time people and setups when it comes to raid stuff. I actually took my headset off at the end to not bother listening to some of the discussion due to the tone of it. Not the way Gaiscioch should work.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

I have done SO many times with my other guild.  We until recently have kept people spread out so that we can manage who goes in the hole and have the rest stack and move through the spears.  We didn't try the burn strat until recently and that was after we had killed it many times the other way.

Basic breakdown.  we have 2 dps and a healer near the big rick that sticks up (rock group) 2 dps and a 3rd dps that is acting as an off healer if that group goes down across from them near the plant (fern group.  I know it isnt a fern but that is ok)  Off tank hangs with them.  Any meele DPS are best in those groups so they arent in the tanks area and are behind the boss.  2 dps and a healer at the ramp.  Best to be ranged there.  and the last DPS flotating by themself.  the off tank goes down with whichever group the hole opens on unless it is on main tank and then the ramp group drops with him.  We have 2 healers 2 tanks 8 dps.

that is a kind of simplified breakdown but I have a feeling you are pretty familiar with the mechanics in general.  I am happy to answer questions if you have any but it is probably easier to do in voice chat

Edit:  Totally agree with this verve "Our motto of play how you want stands, but this is end game raiding meant for the more than "casual" players.  We each need to min/max.  I suggest each primary and alternate team member have their gear, CP, Attributes, mundus, consumables, and skills reviewed and improvements made.  Then run DPS checks.  If we take the time to do this I think we can succeed using the old method, that is my vote.".  It is ok if everyone isnt pulling huge dps but if too many ppl are light then it just doesnt happen.  I know some ppl are going to be put off by dps checks but if you look at it as an opportunity to learn and improve rather than a negative thing maybe it wont be so bad.

2nd edit:  I understand that the trials will be scaled up to v16 with the new content so trying to learn the burn strat just to have the mobs beefed up shortly after may not be the way I would recommend going about it.

Ok 3rd and probably final edit.  I wasnt going to put this up but I guess it is a good basis for comparison.  I play a DK magic DPS and on a standing still fight without casting an ultimate can do 17-18k DPS (crematorium guards in WGT for example) and there are many people who do much more than me.  If you are having trouble hitting similar numbers I am more than happy to try to give pointers (probably couldnt help much with any other classes or stamina builds)
