The Gaiscioch Social Gaming Community Recruits Stuffed Animals for Portland Charities

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Apr. 16, 2012

April 16th, 2012 // Hillsboro, Oregon -- The Gaiscioch, a well known and very large social gaming community organized and participated in their very own charity event. Using their global membership of over 2,800 players they organized the Double-Up Charity event to benefit multiple charities with the same dollar.

The charity event began as an question. How can we use our community to benefit several charities at the same time. Community founder, Benjamin Foley, came up with a plan to use the KOHL'S Cares charity which donates 100% of their proceeds from select stuffed animals to benefit children's health & education services. The Gaiscioch would then take these stuffed animals and provide them to charities in the Portland, OR metro area.

Benjamin approached several charities around the area about accepting these stuffed animals as donations. In doing so he selected three local charities that would be able to accept these donations. By the end of the first week of the event, the Gaiscioch had already shipped over 300 stuffed animals. By the end of the event, the Gaiscioch had raised 405 stuffed animals.

The 2012 Gaiscioch Double-Up Charity Benefactors:

The Gaiscioch are committed to helping the community both in cyberspace and out. Their previous community involvement raised $8,600 and placed them 11th in the world at the 2011 ExtraLife Event fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network. Their next charity event is scheduled for October 2012, and is the 2012 ExtraLife Charity Event. This year we're aiming high at bringing in over $10,000 for the Children's Miracle Network.
