Hey Everyone,
I know theres been a lot of questions, comments, and opinions about the marketplace over the past week. I have been actively working on trying to resolve some of the big issues we have to face. One of which is the fact that AreanaNet has a few circular items. Meaning that we have a bit of Chicken or the Egg happening. The Marketplace builds it's pricing structure as so.
Raw Material -> Refined Materials -> Composite Materials -> Products
In RIFT this worked fine. But in Guild Wars 2 some Composites are combined with other composites to make new composites that are used to make other composites. Confused yet? So is the script. When it's trying to build the price model it wants Ingrediant A's price, then adds it to Ingrediant B's price to generate a price. But what happens when this said item's price effects another items price which then impacts the very item you just created creating an endless loop.
Needless to say not fun. I have made a few changes that should help streamline the system.
- Send To now uses ArenaNet ID rather than characters when in Guild Wars mode
- Inactivity timers are now based off of membership last login instead of character last login (No GW2 feed so we cant automate this).
- I have resynced the entire database of item including over 10,000 items between RIFT and GW2.
- I've broken and fixed several things in the process.
- I corrected the button for Add A Recipe to properly show on Rank 3 and provide a message when you are not yet qualified.
- I have refunded items that had their point values change so people will need to reorder them.
- I have changed the maximum/split sizes on several items to limit the number of 10 x 20 Slot bag requests. Bags can be ordered in Pairs and split into 1 order per 1 bag. This allows more crafters a shot at it.
Now what do we need now?
Over the next week I will be having any crafter that has the recipes and knows how to enter them to put in all recipes for characters under level 30. This should give us a nice foundation that other crafters can pickup and level from there. As they progress new members can enter recipes they've discovered into the system using the Add a New Recipe button they aquire at Artisan Rank 3. Up until now most of our top crafers have avoided putting things into the system so that others can have a chance but it's pretty obvious if they don't give some sort of foundation we wont have many artisan point weilding items requested.
Remember....
In RIFT it took 6 months to get the marketplace to list all of the items available. It has gone through 4 entire complete overhauls and has had it's values shifted constantly. The marketplace we have today was installed a year and a half after RIFT's launch. The same time that we started working closely with the ArenaNet team.
There will be hangups, there will be disconnects, there will be issues. I've spent the last 9 months preparing the Marketplace for Guild Wars 2 and even still there are issues appearing I did not accomidate for.
I will continue to try to resolve them as they appear but I need you all to please step back and realize that NO OTHER GUILD/FAMILY has this marketplace. Gaiscioch is NOT my full time job, it does not pay the bills, and it costs me around $10,000 a year to maintain. I can not afford to commit every hour of every day to it. I need everyone to please be patient and know that I will continue to improve it as I have time.
Coming at me and telling me how broke the marketplace is, saying it's stupid, or any other nagging or snyd remark will not go over so well. I am doing my best and I'd really appreciate it if you keep the negativity to yourself. If you find an issue with the marketplace post it in the help desk and i'll get to it when i can. If your just learning how to put reciepes in please see Izmina or Lakshmi for guidance.
Just be patient and know im working to make it better.
Thanks for understanding.
