Feabhra 2014

Cead Mile Failte!

Here we are on the doorstep of February, just 3 months away from the launch of our 5th chapter in Elder Scrolls Online. This month we saw quite a bit of news both on the Guild Wars 2 front and the Elder Scrolls Online side. In addition we have had some great Gaiscioch Magazine response and are now ready to start taking submissions. This past month has been chaotic, crazy, and I swear I blinked and it was over. I suspect the next 3 will be equally as busy. Let's jump right into it and start off with some Gaiscioch Family News.

Gaiscioch Magazine: Call for Submissions

Do you have something to say that you think would be cool to see in a magazine? Do you have a favorite Gaiscioch or Gaming themed drawing you'd like to be featured? Be sure to submit your art and game reviews, tech reviews, hardware reviews, and opinion pieces before February 15th if you would like to be featured in the first issue of Gaiscioch Magazine.

We're looking for any member written articles, reviews, opinions, guides, or short Gaiscioch family feedback to use in our first issue. Please send your submissions to magazine@gaiscioch.com.

Sorry for the delay.

The Legendary Pops

Ok, I just have to say, this man has not only inspired us time and time again with his antics and humor, but he's also a living example of just what we as human beings are capable of. Years ago Pops was told his days were numbered, He came to our family as a man whose days were running out. With us he found a family and we found an inspiration. Pops has continuously showed those doctors that nobody tells pops when its time to check out.

This week he underwent a risky heart valve replacement which he was advised would be very risky in his condition. Again he was told he would not likely survive this procedure. Well I'm happy to report that he not only survived but he's doing well and in a few days will be out of ICU. Here's what his daughter said about his current condition:

"I'm happy to report so far so good : ) Mom said that he was breathing fine on his own by late this afternoon and so they removed the breathing tube and were monitoring him closely. Mom said he's in good spirits, though groggy, but hasn't lost his sense of humor. As she was talking to the nurse about the valve replacement being from a cow, dad overheard her talking and quietly 'MOO'ed' so I'd say he's doing well & still thinks he's funny : )

We'll definitely still take those prayers though, we're not completely out of the woods yet but certainly getting closer."

We wish you a speedy recovery Pops and look forward to seeing you pop back up on RaidCall here soon. Your courage and perseverance is a beacon of hope for all us.

The Tuatha Extended Alliance

Back in the days of Warhammer Online, we conceived an idea to build a massive alliance of like minded guilds to unite the server community and provide the community with a positive influence that was open and welcoming to all. We carried this concept over to RIFT and later to Guild Wars 2. The Tuatha has plans to launch again in Elder Scrolls Online come April and we are actively seeking Guilds to help launch our alliance on day 1. Depending on what tools we have available in Elder Scrolls Online, we may bring back our old Tuatha Lua Mod to create our own in game extended alliance system.

Members of the Tuatha will have full access to Gaiscioch.com and all of the perks that come with it. They will be able to place orders on our marketplace, claim participation, and even lead events for the community.

This past month we've had a few new additions to the community. I would like to welcome Pax Venatus, Conclaves, and Knight Templars to the Tuatha and look forward to our future adventures.

Looking Back
The Living World of Guild Wars 2

At the very beginning of 2013, trouble arose from the depths as the dredge and Flame Legion charr worked together to begin production on sonic based, magically infused weapons in an underground facility. On the heels of their defeat, a new threat arose from the very heart of Lion’s Arch: ruthless sky pirates led by Mai Trin known as the Aetherblades assassinated a member of the Captain’s Council in hopes of stealing his seat to further their nefarious schemes. In the aftermath of the assassination, we discovered that the Aetherblades, using Inquest holo-technology and advanced engineering, were building a fleet of airships in the midst of Lion’s Arch itself! Though the Aetherblade’s plots were foiled, questions arose – was there someone lurking in the shadows orchestrating the chaos that plagued Tyria?

Who could bend these unlikely allies to their will? At this point, we didn’t know why she was amassing sonic weapons and an air fleet, but the question was on the minds of Tyrians everywhere.

Out Now
The Origins of Madness

The heroes of Tyria face a battle on two fronts; their beloved land is imperiled as never before. From under the sun-baked sands of Bloodtide Coast, a gigantic, three-headed jungle wurm has arisen to threaten all who come within its domain. In the mountains of Lornar’s Pass, Scarlet’s latest creation – a towering, mechanical monstrosity – is wreaking destruction.

The Great Jungle Wurm

The incessant pounding of the mysterious probes has woken up big trouble: an oversized jungle wurm with three giant heads is ravaging Bloodtide Coast! Band together with other heroes to confront and defeat the ravening threat!Be warned: this battle will challenge even the best and bravest that Tyria has to offer! Put your skills to the ultimate test in this epic encounter that will require savvy, determination, and large-scale coordination.

Defeat the Twisted Marionette

Scarlet’s latest masterpiece is an oversized mockery of Queen Jennah’s watchknights, a huge, twisted marionette. Seek the menace out in Lornar’s Pass, where you’ll have to coordinate attacks along five main channels and disarm the marionette before it charges and fires a lethal aethercannon. You’ll have to deal not only with the marionette itself, but with the wrath of Scarlet’s combined armies.

Reap Your Rewards

Fighting Tyria’s foes is by no means easy, but it comes with great rewards. Brave adventurers who face down the threat of the great jungle wurm have a chance for a wurm-themed rifle skin, a new ring or amulet, and even special ascended armor components like the Wurmslayer’s Masque, Shoulderguard, and Warfists. Create cyphers for Scarlet’s lockboxes and unlock them for a chance at a miniature mechanized Moa, new exotic recipes, and more!

This month Elder Scrolls Online widely targeted the PvE side of the game with it's media releases. In a Tamriel Foundry interview Paul Sage answered over 40 questions about the PvE side of the game. In addition they released some additional information about the Dark Anchors that will be found across Tamriel.

On the Gaiscioch side we are actively expanding both our numbers and also bringing in new Tuatha members to prepare for the battles to come. Prelaunch numbers are right where we want them and we expect to see an initial surge shortly after launch. As with any game the first 3 months will be inflated and as things settle down we'll shrink to more consistent state.

Just as the Gaiscioch Family is not the guild for all, we are the family for many. Elder Scrolls Online will not be the game for all, it will be the home for many. Those that choose to venture into it with us fill find a fun and family friendly community waiting for them.

Those that continue to stay with us in Guild Wars 2 we will be continuing our role in the Sanctum of Rall Community. Those who are not playing either game I hope our paths will cross again in the future. Keep us apprised of your adventures :).

Voice Cast Introduced

Meet the world-class talent that will bring the characters you meet in The Elder Scrolls Online to life.

We’re excited to introduce you to the amazing voice cast you’ll hear in ESO. You’ll probably recognize more than a few of the highly-talented individuals voicing characters throughout the game. Without further ado, we’re proud to present the cast highlights in a new press release:

John Cleese plays Sir Cadwell, the cheerful and endearingly mad lost soul who is not afraid of anyone, even a Daedric Prince. Joining the cast as High King Emeric, Bill Nighy portrays a merchant prince whose luck and determination won him the throne. Kate Beckinsale takes on the role of Queen Ayrenn, the leader of the Aldmeri Dominion and Queen of the High Elves who is far more comfortable with a blade than her crown.

In addition, Alfred Molina takes on the role of Abnur Tharn, a wily old wizard and politician who is the head of the Empire’s Elder Council, and the de facto power behind the Ruby Throne. Lynda Carter plays Azura, the Daedric Princess of Dusk and Dawn from Skyrim who is a popular part of Elder Scrolls lore. Michael Gambon voices The Prophet, a mysterious blind man who guides the player through their journey to retrieve their soul; and Malcolm McDowell plays the key figure Molag Bal, an evil Daedric god from another plane who schemes to enslave the mortal souls of Tamriel.

The Elder Scrolls Online cast also includes:

  • Peter Stormare (“Fargo”) plays Jorunn the Skald King, an unexpected monarch who led his people into an unlikely alliance.
  • Jim Ward ("WALL·E," "Despicable Me 2") voices Mannimarco, a renegade High Elf wizard exiled from the realm for raising the dead and the world’s most powerful necromancer.
  • Jennifer Hale appears in the role of Lyris Titanborn, a Nord half-giant, who, along with the Prophet, aids the player on their journey.
  • Kevin Michael Richardson rounds out the cast as Sai Sahan a noble martial artist and master swordsman.
