Do we have any family members playing Everquest 2? If so, what server? I would like to chat with you a little bit in game.

I use to play a few years ago, loved the game. I guess that doesn't really help you now though. I almost came back when EQ2 introduced the beastlord class just to check it out but at the time I was already playing 2 other games. I must say that I do miss that classic feel that EQ and EQ2 (EQ more so) brought to the mmo world and continue to look for it in every new title that comes out (crosses fingers for Archeage).
Sorry I couldn't help you out any further. By the way, you wouldn't happen to be a R.A. Salvatore fan?

I have characters on AB, but I don't play them.
Antonia Bayle. I love that game, but do not play it nearly enough. I've often wanted to just uninstall every game I have, so I will go play EQ2, but I never do. Its perma-installed to my HDD, sometimes I'll even move the whole folder over to a back-up drive to make room for a new one, but I've never uninstalled it, LOL.
I've uninstalled EQ2 about a half dozen times, but it keeps ending back up on my hard drive and in my mind. Was thinking about it on the way to work today, and ended up halfway to the job I used to go to last time I was Raiding regularly there.
I've played it off and on over the years but don't have any characters over level 25. I've never been able to find a group/guild that I like enough to keep playing. :(
I stopped playing it in 2009 and since then have a new computer so not even installed and heck if I know if I can restate my characters even if I wanted to. I had a slew of them. ::chuckles:: Have one that got around 70ish, but never made it to 80. It seemed they kept upping the level just before I would reach it. Gave up on it and went to Warhammer when the guild I was in had everyone doing the end game stuff while I kept struggling solo to get to the end. Wound up not being fun at all.
I have several toons on Guk and Test server. Guk has many people who are well known in the community especially who are crafters; same on the Test server, though Test has pretty much been abandoned by the devs in preference for the other test server (yes, ther are 2) and since Domino left for Rift to develope their housing, I'm not sure how Test is surviving. I left EQ2 for GW2 so I'm no longer active there. EQ2 does know how to do holidays, though, and GW2 should take note of them.
I pulled away from SoE made games due to Sony being hacked and a large amount of funds( Real world Money ) was stolen from me took about 3-4 weeks to get it back. When Sony got majorly hacked about 2 years ago so best of luck.

Sorry to hear about that, Balor. I was part of that hack too, but they did not get any of my money. I'm not sure how they got yours, since they didn't get any information like that from SOE's servers. SOE is not the only major game maker to be hacked. Blizzard was also hacked last year, as was Perfect World and uhm... someone else big, I forget who. Some banks have also been hacked, I believe Citibank and Chase, and a couple of others.
you can find me on the Antonia Bayle RP Server under the name of Valtyrian.
I used to play also. I had my ps3 hacked and over 400 in funds stolen during that time frame but they nailed the guy super fast idiot used the funds to buy games for his ps3 on the playstation network. Since then I use sony game cards you can get at any walmart or any target. Works great and you can buy $50 ones and store 3 at once in your wallet to use for subs. The wallet only seems to hold max of $150 on my ps3. They have made some huge upgrades on there side and the wallet is very well protected they are recommending it quite a bit over giving out credit information. So those issues are unfortunate but pretty well resolved . Your going to run in the chance for a hack on any game. Infact sony has not been the only one hacked recently. As for EQ2 I used to play it quite a bit then I took a break cause completed all the content. Took too long a break and fell really far behind, Unfortunately its hard to catch back up when you do in terms of endgame and not many guilds want to go back and catch you up so I never went back. The last expansion I played was right before velious. I beta tested velious and was not happy about how they mutilated it so got depressed and quit . I have been tempted to go back but with being invited to multiple game beta recently I really do not have the mentality to start playing it again. If something changes you could pick a server. I have a free server change saved on my account and can move my fury to any one that has a majority of us on it. Let me know if you guys decide to form something up on a server.
I play on Antonia Bayle also Broktool, Heilius, Valgio, Calgio if your on drop me a tell..
I play on AB. if you are all in a guild let me know and I'll join ya. I still play occasionally, of course not as much as I like.
I am up on Butcherblock, I play a couple/few times a week still. I was playing daily until fairly recently. Main's name is Reecez, got an alt I have been workin on named Muszik. I rolled a couple toons on unrest just for fun as well (for hanging out with some friends).
Eq2 brings back a lot of memories played from launch 2004 tell just before Velious when RL took me away from the game long enough to fall behind. Have not played in a while, but got 2 90's Butcherblock Joram and Laurus. If you ever need anything hit me up. Its been awhile but not much I can't do pre Velious. Several years as a hard core raider has its up side.
I also am a EQ2 player, you can find me on Everfrost and AB servers. I have many toons of all level's. Have all expansions, plus. I have a 95 paladin/master carpenter will be in Next and Landmark.
I tried EQ2 on launch day, but I didn't inhale. :)
After about an hour, I uninstalled the game, and never looked back. :)
I did not like one thing about EQ2 launch: Recipe drops were beyond random; almost dying from crafting attempts... Crafting can kill you? Seriously?; rubberbanding movement; cartoonish graphics; annoying sound tracks. I knew instantly it was not the continuation of EQ1 which I had played for years. While EQ1 had its quirks, EQ2 was a different beast. EQ2 was one of those few games where I knew instantly that I would not ever continue playing. [Am very leary of EQ Next, or any SOE byproduct for that matter]
Of course, no launch is 100% perfect. But there was just something I couldn't put my finger on.. I just couldn't force myself to spend another minute in EQ2. It just seemed all wrong for me.
Perhaps I got off on the wrong foot when Gamestop gave away my collector's edition I reserved and PAID for in advance to someone else by mistake. And if I remember right, the collector's edition was detained in customs by a day or two because of concerns of the metal packaging tin that it was shipped in.? I will never pre-order another game through Gamestop. (I remember pre-ordering Guildwars 1, and they messed up my preorder on that).
Maybe the planets weren't aligned that month/year. Whatever cosmic forces were in play, SOMETHING was shouting loud and clear to avoid EQ2. RUN do not walk. RUN AWAY! DON'T LOOK BACK! AAAGGGHHHH!!!! I'm melting... (i really should not type when I'm THIS tired...)
My wife and I still have a Tier 3 Guild Hall with all the amenities on Antonia Bayle. Still have a few people signing in to use the portals and crafting area. Very few though.
The game is F2P now. I still drop in from time to time when I get bored with whatever current games I play. Have 17 alts there. The main thing is though...SOE never managed to get the hang of PvP in EQ2. Not like they did with PS2. I suspect the current EQ2 engine just wouldn't handle mass pvp on the scale of GW2, ESO or PS2.
Once you get into WvW or AvA...its pretty tough to go back to straight pvE. And the older graphics style.
Still, EQ2 would be a good fit for Gaiscioch, I think due to its focus on raids. What..you can have 24 people / raid? I think?...been quite awhile since we ever had that many people in guild. But at one time...
But...EQ2 with the graphics of GW2 and a WvW option? I don't think I'd ever leave then... :)
I'm hoping EQ Next does just that. I have repeatedly suggested on there forums and on there reddit that if they simply took Planet Side 2 and gave it a Everquest mod, then placed the portal in Everquest Next, they would own the MMO world. Best of all SEO owns both games and it would be incredibly easy to mod. Aircraft could be replaced with flying mounts, ground vehicles could be replaced with large land animals, ect ect. I honestly wouldn't sleep for the next five years if SEO would simply add that to EQ Next.
Yeah..I've been watching EQn. I'm not happy with the decision to embrace the new stylized character artwork. The background artwork is pretty good, the toons themself seem out of place to me.
I also think the voxel thing is kind of gimmicky. Its ok in landmark as it has a purpose for building things. But I'm thinking the "fully destructible landscape" they tout in EQN is going to cause issues.
Interesting to note that they removed all mention of Everquest Next from Landmark. Is that signalling a change of thought re the 2 games?
My wife and I play sometimes during the year...we usually get the itch for a month or two. On AB.
My wife and I are playing EQ2 again. New expansion coming out in a few days and we've been gearing up our mains. We have a T3 Guid Hall on AB...just a few of us playing right now though.
Look for Furly Longshanks (yours truly) ....or my wife (Kittaene) online on AB if any of ya'll need a place to call home.
Everquest2 is a really good game for pve with tons of dungeons and quests. PvP doesn't really cut it...but there are other games for that.
Raf
I'm looking to try this game out, Everquest initiated me into the realm of graphic MMO's back in 2003 but I didn't play long (sub didn't fit in budget of a post college grad :P).
After playing ESO and ArchAge, I'm looking to return back to the "good old days" and this is what's brought me here. I actually tried EQ, but after a few days I admitted that maybe I don't want to go THAT far back in MMO evolution ;)
Just started EQ2 - Having a blast. Thanks to Kitty and Raf - Enjoying life on AB
I just started playing too, I joined the AB server and you can find me as Ktzala :)
Hi folks,
Landrix & Ktzala...c'mon over :)
My play times are sporadic due to work...but Kitty is on quite a bit. Add her main alts "Kittaene" & "Kittybock" to your friends list and send her a tell if you see her online. We'll help you get to the guildhall and get going ingame.
Raf
Still playing. Guild is mostly EU times during the weekdays, however. There are a few people on in the evenings.
But we are most active on weekends for Heroic & Contested dungeon groups.
I am still playing EQ2, love the game. Granted Rift is pulling me back and having a blast with you guys. That being said, I'm on Skyfire with too many toons to name. Raynekeeper, my Fury, is lvl 100. In a great guild there, people are friendly and willing to help. Not a hardcore guild though. We're pretty casual for the moment though I do hope to push some into raiding if possible. Name of the guild is Malice in Wonderland. I'm an officer there so if you ever want to roll on Permafrost, shoot me a tell and I can add you. :-) Happy hunting all!
