Few questions:

1. Can we claim participation for an event even if we didn't sign up for it here on the site?

2. Can I claim participation if I only completed 3/4 of the projected time for the event?

(I ran GmaFog's "Leveling the Playing Field" event today in Fields of Ruin. She has it posted as lasting 2 hours, I only stayed for 1 1/2. I got lost and withdrew. The concept is great, but the event is so hectic and chaotic that I have to leave and/or take a Xanax ;) and somehow I started the next heart only to find everyone else had moved on...far, far away *sigh* I'm such a slowpoke.)

3. Is there a certain Credo when I can start claiming participation?

Thanks guys, much appreciated!

Aye you can claim an event even if you don't sign up for it. So long as you participated, you can claim it.  Do your best guesstimate and only claim the time you were there for. Members on their first day can claim events, the only requirement is that you particpated. :)

1. You can claim any event you attended. Signups are just a RSVP so the event leader knows how many to expect.

2. You can select the objectives you were there for and claim those. If it's a time based event you can round up to the nearest time gauge.

3. Participation is the first thing a member can do. No limits. It's the first step to being part of the family.

Thank you =)

I was afraid to click on Claim before I had gotten answers to these questions, and in case it did something I couldn't take back, but I see now how it's set up.

....I tend to over-complicate things sometimes.

And don't worry if you oops and don't get it exact. If you are close enough for what you were around for, all good. =) It's all an honor system and we aren't going to quibble over things unless we know you weren't there at all.  =)

So make sure to claim things and definitely don't hesitate to speak up if lost in the chaos at times. Some days go better than others and some days running an event can be like herding cats as not everyone is following commands. ::chuckles:: I actually got behind on GMa's event at one point because I just did things based on where we were at and then catching up again. I think I was last on like three of the hearts. LOL! And I've been in the family following people around for over 6.5 years in a number of games now. So definitely speak up and someone will help.

I will note that if you go on a WvW event it might be harder to get you caught up, but even there people are willing to go help get people to the right spot if not caught up in a fight at the time. It's just the nature of being in PvP versus the PvE where it is easier to work out catching people up.

Hope you enjoy your time and again definitely speak up if you need help. If you have concerns, Fog is very approachable and the elders are, too.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

Good to know, Briseadh, thank you.

As I said, I tend to over-complicate things. Some things come easy in these games..but some things can be difficult to grasp. Especially when you are new. There are no really guidelines when you start out, and I spend more time reading guides and forum posts to figure the game out then I do actually playing! I think I spend about 2/3 of my play time tabbed out on GW2 wikia!!

Don't get me wrong, I love it when a game is a challenge. I don't want to be end game in 2 weeks, end-game is a game killer for me..I don't stick around much after that, but here there is SO much to learn. I just have to go ahead and ask the questions, or find them for myself.

I am so glad this guild is so patient and undertanding!
