Hey all,

I've been away from the game for a while and am looking for some advice on my ranger.. I played with a bow build (LB/SB) when I was in the game previously but that set up seems like a one button (well 2 for the F2 pet ability) wonder. I was just fiddling round on the build site and came up with this. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vMEQNAR3XlEqocldrwdF8rNQwecIF9oniWpenCU5pUexKm6F-zwBBoMCy00CyZPFRjtuqIasaJYaUER1eEER1kCAihVA-e . This seems a bit more interactive even though its not a ranged ranger. It's late and I had a long day at work but I think I have it ballanced. I put gear in there but have no clue whats reasonable to make or aquire. Anyway long story short....too late....can I get a look over to see what I over looked?

Thanks

Coffee

You have a lot of conditions (even in your pets) and not a lot of condition damage.  You have good armor, too much health (should drop that to ~20k), but great attack power (those stat imbalances is a downside of running PVT gear)

IMO, that build you have is more of direct damage build, so you should look at weapons that work off of power damage, rather than condition damage, if that is what you want.  (weapons would be GS, LB, Sword, off-hand Axe)

Unless........... you really want that weapon setup, then you should work on building up the condition damage, while not sacrificing your power (GS skills rely on power).  Condition build = 1000 at min, but more the better (burning requires 1100+ to be 100% effective, for example).  Also with a condition build, you will want to focus on stacking a lot of condi in the shortest amount of time, especially Bleeds.  (that's the actual condition damage effects, not the debuff effects: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Condition_Damage)

That's why some folks have problems with "condi builds", because they think they have a lot of condi damage via their skills, but they're lacking having any punch behind them.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Condition will also be of help in building a condi build.  Keep in mind that the non-damage Condition effects are not affected by the Condition Damage stat.

Is this your wvw, spvp, or pve build?

So this is my survive the main quest and timer dragons and a few dungeon and Fog might get me into WvW build so a PVx build.

So i played around to drop the conditions and go power and also to get a true ranged weapon. There were times in the last few day I missed the ability to finish of a ranged attacker without running in cause of distance and ability c/d. new link http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vMEQJARTnEqQrg2zCWsAXLGIYPOkie0TxsilTh/9UKvYFT9C-zACBYLDRjIYIaZPFRjtQcIalUhVtATViIq2bgIqWMA6B-e If I run straight beserker I start to worry about my health I dropped it to 19k and wasn't sure I should lower it. I'm not the best at defensive manuvering and end up eating hits I prolly shouldn't and like a buffer for that.

You may want to consider 2 gear sets. I run basically full zerker for pve and full apothecary for wvw. Zerker ranger is rather effective for pve, but way too squishy for wvw. I posted this a while back in the wvw section. Might help you. http://guildwars.gaiscioch.com/tavern/guildwars_pvp/post_70540.html

Personally after watching the new Readyup livestream and what their going to do to the ranger I would make a condiranger.

Using Condition/Power/Vitality.

Condi because they are upping poison for Rangers by 50% extra damage (Grandmaster Trait)

Vitality : a grandmaster trait that can give a chance to block ranged when weilding Melee (I have problems with Necros and Ele using many, many condi's on me simultaneously)

Power: just cause you don't want to fight all day (especially against Guardians/Warriors)

SB & Sword/Torch. My Preferred after Patch.

Hi,

I like your use of traps; those are very nice in a condition build, but in my opinion they should be traited so you can throw them down and get more damage and duration out of your traps.  A condition build can be very effective, but as the other folks mentioned the weapons, pets, gear and traits have to have synergy. I put war horn in, but you could swap that for another sword or a torch, depending on your personal preference. Try something like this.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNEQNBMhVakRlyV7WxdFqWDYIUt7gQoqZHARwE86YTZKFYqXA-TxREABvpPAS1f4RpHTKDAw03H7PcqSQSBAxwK-e

Notice the condition damage stat, the pets, weapons and trinkets all contribute to the build.

Good Luck!
