Frustration has struck GmaFog and GpaFog

Yup, trying to play GW2 and even though we have done everything GW2 suggests we get booted out about every 3-5 minutes to the character page. Error Code 7:11:3:189:101 The game client lost its connection to the server. Please wait a few minutes before restarting the client and trying again.  On the link listed [https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/38813526-Common-Error-Codes] we tried all, but I think GpaFog will be looking further into it this evening. He is so frustrated he won't play now.  Any suggestions will be appreciated. 

Note: We have been playing great with that warning maybe once 2 weeks ago. Then last Weds this started and we haven't been able to hardly play at all.. This is the reason you all aren't seeing me much anymore.  All my other games work fine with no issue, so it isn't our internet, even though they say it is.

NCsoft has had issues with this before.

Sadly there can be compatability issues within a patch for certain hardware or software, or bandwidth issues that don't affect other games so much as MMOs.

What you can try:  You can try their fixes, as well as looking into updates and repairs for drivers, repair attempts on the game, and even looking at discussing the issue with your ISP (some ISPs are very bad about short intermittent failures on large data streams just in general, and sometimes with the better ones this does happen due to a connection in or near your home that can be fixed.)

It did start after the last update - maybe video card drivers are the issue???

Have you replaced the dat file?  It sits in the Guildwars 2 folder and contains a lot of needed information.  If this is happening on just one computer, that's where I would look.  If it's happening on more than one computer, I would try and find updates for all my hardware. 

 

Oh yes, if you do remove that dat file, it will take as long as downloading all of the updates up until now.  On my 10 meg speed it took hours, on my 1 meg speed it took days.

A shot in the dark here.

 

Are you both logging in from the same computer but at different times?  And Fog would know more about it than me, but doesn't GW2 require a separate installation for each user on a computer?

Two different computers - in fact I just now logged on to see what would happen and it booted me right away.

Looks like others are having the same issue as you guys. I would try a -repair and if that doesn't work try deleting the local dat file. Short of that the only other recommendation is to save a copy of the crash log and open a CS ticket.

My guess is they patched something and things went weird, happens on occasion

There is also a gw2 cache which can be found here:

C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Temp\gw2cache-{59702AAE-F19F-1A96-AD2A-70599FF1961A}

Make sure that you are closed out of the game completely and then delete this directory, your computer may have a slightly different number following the gw2cache- part and that's okay. When you log into the game the next time this cache will be regenerated on it's own.

As far as I know this location stays the same on both Windows 7 and Windows 8. Deleting this cache has fixed a world of problems for me in the past, good luck.

Some stuffs to read, if you haven't found these.  IMO, 3rd party Anti-Virus/Firewall since its both computers.  People forget that AV will also block network traffic via limiting a file's access to the system by either direct block or by quarantine.  That's why I give exception status to all of my gaming folders.

Sekk is so right about the anti-virus programs.   I actually had to uninstall one and get a different one when I started GW2.  The one (and I won't disparage the name) was a fairly well known program and it hated GW2 specifically - with a passion even though I opened all the ports and could play for a while - it would then shut it down.  I bought a new one and it allows me to play without the interruptions - but of all the games I play it only asks me if I want to allow GW2 each and every time I launch it.   Other games this only happens with patches - GW2 has some funny things and I have no idea what they do - but just launching the game triggers my anti-virus program and it asks me if I "wish to allow it to make changes to my computer?"

It is a fairly easy check - just turn your anti-virus program off and see if it lets you play.  I turned off my previous program for a year each time I played GW2 just so I could play.
