Name: Aslenia (Az-le-nee-a) Direnni

Named for Ancestor, Asliel Direnni, whose story can be found in the “De Rerum Dirennis,” by Vorian Direnni.

Nicknames: Az, Nia, Luny (but only by closest childhood friend)

Race: Altmer

Age: Young

Affiliation: Psijic

Sorcerer: Dark Magic

Job: Alchemist

Weapons: Destruction/Restoration staff

Aslenia travelled to Stros M’kai and Hammerfell to search for lost alchemical formulas and ingredients indigenous to the area. After several months of digging in the sands of Stros M’kai the tiny island was beset by Molag Bal and his minions.  Finding herself thrown into the fray, Aslenia helped the native peoples defend their homes.

*I haven't quite found Az's "voice" yet.  I know that she is young (relatively) and fancies herself as a forward-thinking rebel.  However, based on her affiliations, job choice, and mystic pursuits, she is more like her namesake than she realizes, which causes tension between who she believes she should be and who she is.*

I want to join the family in the Ebonheart Pact, but I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what business my character has outside of The SUmmerset Isles, specifically Firsthold, or the Imperial city.

Given the timing, it would be perfectly normal to see a Direnni whispering in the ears of the nobility in Cyrodil, but I'm having a tough time putting her anywhere that would cause her to be swept into the Molag Bal conflict in the EP territories.

I've spent so much time studying this and pouring over maps--I think I know Elder Scrolls lore better than U.S. history at the moment.

Suggestions?

The EP did have a conflict with Akaviri slavers shortly before the Molag Bal invasion. That's what brought them together into an alliance, albeit a fragile one.

Maybe your character is there in an effort to keep the peace between the different EP races in case the Akavir invade again?

*whips out a map of Tamriel*  I imagine my character could be sent to Falkreath with other reinforcements, or even to gather intel from the Nords to relay back to the Empire.

This would definitely cause tension between my character and others as she finds herself being spit out of Coldharbour into Skrym.  Hmmm.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Calling all Altmers......

I'm doing a great deal of research regarding the Altmer language and relationships so I can develop a multidimensional character.  I'm finding a little bit of information on Ayleid language, but am not too worried about it, since the Altmer are said to be the authors of the Common Tongue anyway.

One of the things I'm having a very difficult time finding is information about Altmer relationships.  Is it a bad thing to still be living in your parents' basement at 100?  Do you still call your folks Mommy and Daddy at 500?  Are all hopes of finding a good mer dashed by the age of 240?  The people want to know.

I'm thinking back to Tolkein's vision of the High Elves as a stoic, meditative people engulfed in their own pursuits.  Based on TES lore, the Altmer seem to be similar, so I may use that as a jumping off point.

Thoughts?

A visitor to the city of Windhelm would be surprised to see two Nord’s chatting casually with the Altmer girl, but two years after the Akvari attacks, the trio was a common sight.  The three had taken to each other almost immediately after Jorunn returned from Mournhold with the young Altmer captive.

Bjarn, the battle-hardened warrior, was tall and muscular with more than a few scars.  He had a darker complexion than most Nords and instead of the typical blond, Bjarn’s hair was a rich chestnut.   Elke was tall and slim; her complexion as pale and fine as white bone. Like her brother, however, Elke’s hair was not blonde but bright copper.

Aslenia was mysterious and elegant to them.  Her gold eyes almost a reflection of her gleaming skin.  The siblings were mesmerized when they saw her brought into the keep the day Jorunn returned.  At 27, Aslenia was considered a child by Mer standards—barely “of age”—which may have been why she was allowed to live.  Perhaps Jorunn thought that by training up the wyrmling now he could control the dragon later.

Check out the Library to see what happens to Aslenia, Bjarn, and Elke after the soulburst.
