I was pondering something this morning, and I thought I'd ask the smarter minds here for some input...
How viable would it be to create a character that uses no magic skills at all? In other words, put skill points into weapon (no destruction or restoration), armor, racial and crafting skills only. What class and weapon combo do you think would be the most successful?
Just something theoretical I was pondering. :)
Could you struggle through certain encounters with only Stamina based weapon skills? Probably. However, you ask if it is viable, and that answer is an emphatic no :P
You can play however you want, but you have to know that you are making a choice about how difficult it will be to level, and your viability as a high-level content participant. There isn't any balance between Stamina and Magicka, but you can make up some of the gap with skill. Doing so with no Magicka skills is still a choice for a handicap.
My main is a 2H Templar, so I may be able to offer some suggestions. I would like to hear more about your idea though. Is it that you don't want any skills that use your magicka pool, or no abilities that seem magical? Case in point is a very powerful Fighter's Guild ability called Evil Hunter. It consumes Stamina to activate, but gives you a greyish fire effect on your weapon, which I think seems rather magical.
I'm not necessarily planning a specific character like this. My mind was wandering this morning and curiosity got the best of me. The initial thought was to build a character that appears to use natural ability only, with nothing outwardly "magical". This would eliminate a lot of abilities in the game though...most class skills seem to be centered around magic.
At the moment in the current state of ESO it wouldn't be possible. not possible in the sense that you can't do it, but the impossible as in you severely gimp your character. Not only would you be useless in group content, I think you'd find leveling to be very very difficult. Now if this was more of a I want to challenge myself and the game by doing it by all means go ahead. But like I said before, with out using class skills you are severely gimping your character to the point that I don't think it would work.
Now if they made each class have 1 line that was stamina based then yes it would be viable. Imo that's what they should have done in the first place. That way for instance, the NB assassination line would scale off of stamina instead of melee crit and magicka making stamina builds more viable and in my honest opinion closer to on par with current magicka builds.
Now that I think about it, I'm going to suggest this to the ESO team and see what happens. Only class that I can see not really being able to go with this is the Sorc.

Well the class wouldn't matter at all if the intent is to build a character that uses no magicka abilities. Class skills are out entirely. Only things available are Weapon skills and Fighter's Guild skills, and perhaps Ultimates as those are not technically Magicka (Templar would probably be best for the 'flavor' of this idea, using Radial Sweep). A Nightblade may work too, especially if Passives are allowed.
yep i wish they hadn`t made every class use magik thats silly , however thats what they did so seeing most of your class ablities are better and they all req magik .
although i posted a nightblade vid where the nightblade is using almost all stam ablities think all she used from nightblade was impale, and dark cloak and she wasn`t gimped at all .
like my temp build uses mostly class ablities however i have excut from 2h on bar as a finisher , and silver shards or turn undead on second bar that use stam but i play mine as a hybrid , dps / support melee/caster . vs just a casters healbot lol .
