Not sure why this posted without my typing anything........
anyways, I am trying to order a suit of armor but a superior set vs base set..
Can someone tell me how to do this?
I want to make sure the person that responds to the order gets credit for it.
Thank you!
You order the weapon then order the materials you can use to upgrade it yourself. You don't need to be a crafter to upgrade a weapon or armor. Just need a crafting station.
Oh, Thank you!
However, a crafter can upgrade with fewer upgrade items. So if you get the base item and the items for upgrading, I would gladly help upgrade it for you. Two for green, three for blue, four for purple for each item.
Sometimes people who fill orders will make it green or even blue depending on what they have and not worry about points, but doing so just to help a guildie have good armor. I have never gotten a set piece to actually where on my alt I order for most of the time that wasn't green or blue already due to the generosity of the crafters.
I know others also have crafting maxed out to be able to do this, too.
It takes 8 for yellow, but for the most part until I got Rank VR10 I stuck with blue and saved my purples until then and I'm saving the yellows, since I still don't have enough for my own set for VR14. I've done swaps of yellows of one crafting type for the type I need to help myself and others get the ones they need.
So order the gear first, see how they send it and then decide on upgrading if you think you want to. For the most part green and how fast you level works up to 50. Blues seem nicer in vet levels that take longer and think of purple in later vet levels due to rarity of higher quality mats. This is my opinion based on a year of testing and half a year of live playing with quite a few toons. =)
I have made armor for people and honestly never even thought about improving it. Thanks for the comment Briseadh, in the future I'll remember to do that, have plenty of tempers and whatnot to at least make green or blue, just never occurred to me - so logical I just concentrate on making exactly what is posted exactly how it is posted lol.
Well you don't have to upgrade it. I made that comment because quite a few people do do that. You get no extra points if you do, but personally this crew is about helping family so that is probably what motivates them to upgrade. I don't grab orders only because I don't care how many points I have and as an elder I rather see members having fun making things for people. I might fill material orders here and there, but haven't filled crafting orders since the early months of GW2.
The reason why you can't order directly upgraded items is mostly do the quandry that different level crafters use a different amount of upgrade materials based on how many skill points they have in it.
Personally I order things even if I can make it myself and upgrade it however I want. I got into ordering for my alts at least so crafters could grab my orders and make some family crafting points. I would have ordered for my vet toon, but most of what I want doesn't go to 14 yet. That is in the works, but will take some time to show up.
