So, noobish question here regarding crafted gear. I have some new leathers from Marketplace orders (thank you guildies!) and may be requesting more pieces, but I'm wondering about enchantments. Is it worthwhile to put green or blue (or higher lvl) enchantments on "white" armor? Should I use the "white" ones? Should I look to have my gear Improved first? What say you?

The higher the better... so white is out. Most folks wear green or blue as they go through the levels and most crafters can make or improve gear to green or blue with little difficulty but after that the mats become harder to obtain and naturally you need a higher level crafter. But not impossible and much desirable. Hope that answered your question. :)

On the marketplace you can't order anything but white armor or weapons at the moment.  I tend to go with green on my armor and blue for my weapons when crafting them.  I try to do better enchants to at least match, but found I've leveled fast enough it wasn't a huge difference if I had white enchants.  They were better than nothing.  I'm getting so I can actually craft some halfway decent enchants on my own, but haven't bothered ordering any good ones for my vet level toon.

So to get your gear from white to better you can either order the mats to do that on site and give them to the crafter making your stuff or see if they will just upgrade the items for free.  For the moment you can note you want an upgrade.  If the crafter is maxed out green and blue are easy to do.  Purple and yellow are the ones that get more expensive, especially yellow.

This is a casual, mostly PvE player point of view.  =)  But definitely the higher up in color the better the gear.  Just as a note, green crafted gear is usually pretty close to blue looted gear in the world of the same level.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

Thanks for the input. It just occurred to me that until I reach Vet levels, I probably shouldn't worry too much about this kind of thing, lol.

When leveling, white glyphs are just fine in my opinion.  Green glyphs are just so slightly better.

You just go through gear pieces so fast that more expensive glyphs are not worth it.

you will most definitely want to stick with white enchants until you reach V12 (unless a higher quality enchant just falls from the sky) and as for gear use whites until level 45-50 (some of the coldharbor and final story quest can be rather difficult in only whites) from then on use Greens for armor and Blues for weapons (greens work fine for weapons as well if you can't get blue stuff made, but blue just gives you that extra edge in solo content) once you reach V10 I would start to think about my final gear and what I want it to look like. V10 is also the time that you want to begin gathering mats for your endgame gear. All that said don't put Gold enchants on your gear until you have tested your final build thoroughly. Get great weapons and armor and throw some white enchants on that gear. Spend some time in the gear and find it weaknesses. Then tweak your final build with the gold enchants.

I just use greens and blues that I loot, then when I'm upgrading with new stuff, I decon or store for research.  I haven't used whites since the starter stuff.  I've experimented with crafting stuff, but its really a waste of improvement components, IMO.  (it might be different for Vet levels, I have no idea, but <50 just use what you loot)
