I felt the book could've done well as a series. It felt extremely condensed and rushed to me. I liked it, but I think Eddings could have done better. Had it been a series, I would've enjoyed it quite a bit more.
The Althalus character was by far my favorite, but the relationship between him and the Goddess mimicked that of Belgarath and Polgara in Eddings' serieses the Malloreon and the Belgariad.
Not too terribly original, but a good read.
I agree with Ragmar but I didn't feel as rushed. It did feel condensed but I didn't mind that much because I think I am getting tired of waiting for authors to release the "next" book of the series (game of thrones anyone?). It is interesting the concepts that they (eddings) play around with in all their works but Redemption seems to put the "family" concept to the forefront.
all in all i thought it was a fast light enjoyable read. I like althalus the best but i wonder if that is because he was the most developed character.
