Races

High Elf

The High Elves, or Altmer, arrived in Tamriel thousands of years ago from Old Aldmeris. They see themselves, perhaps justifiably, as the ruling race of Tamriel. They are a highly cultured people, known for their breathtaking architecture and massive libraries of histories and creative works. They tend to be isolationists, largely remaining on Summerset Isle, and only emerge when they perceive a great threat to their homeland. They are powerful mages and warriors, and the de facto leaders of the Aldmeri Dominion.

Wood Elf

The Wood Elves, or Bosmer, are mischievous, curious and nimble. Because their homeland of Valenwood is often attacked by the Colovian Imperials, Wood Elves are experts at the art of defense. They are also gifted archers, perhaps the best in all of Tamriel. The capital of the Aldmeri Dominion, Elden Root, lies in the heart of their homeland. It has evolved into a center of political and cultural importance and is of vital strategic importance in the battle to control Tamriel.

Khajiit

The population of the proud feline Khajiit has dwindled in recent years following a devastating outbreak of Knahaten Flu. They owe a great debt to Ayrenn, Queen of the High Elves, for her help in restoring order from the chaos that followed the plague. They have a wry wit and a hedonistic outlook, but they are fearsome on the field of battle. They are the strong arm of the Aldmeri Dominion.

For me, it just has to be Wood Elf.  I really look forward to seeing what they do with Valenwood.  I would hope it will be expansive and open to exploration.

As far as flavors are concerned;

I like my Altmer fried in a beer batter tossed in spices. Or baked in cooking bags for a few hours. Usually 20 minutes per pound.

Wood Elves need to be roasted at a low temp for a long time because they have this kinda fibrous exterior that needs to be softened. You also need to add a lot of spices to cover up the musty dirt flavor.

As far as Khajiit, I like to go for a Korean Barbeque style or a Chinese Szechuan style with lots of green onion. I hear they also have Khajiit sushi, but I wouldn't consider having Kahjiit cold.

None of those three are in the Ebonhart Pact where Gaiscioch will be.  As for AvA, I think I will use Viktor's recipes for those we trunce.  LOL!

Of course, you can play whatever you want - you just won't be able to group with where the family is going to be unless you are Ebonhart Pact.  And I don't think Fog wants Gaiscioch in AvA unless on an Ebonhart Pact toon.  Too many people will whine about spies and whatever other drama they can think of about unfair fighting.  Let's have other people cause that drama, not Gaiscioch.  =D  Just saying.

Don't mess with Mama Bear, I might hug you too tight. =D

Bris, I've re-read the chapter announcement, and some other posts from Fog, and I think there is some misunderstanding. Family EVENTS will officially be on Ebonheart side (and there doesn't seem to be anything prohibiting other events from popping up in other factions). Otherwise everyone is welcome to play whatever faction they want, and the family will have an official AVA campaign choice for each faction. "Spying" isn't really going to be a drama causing issue with the way campaigns are currently set up, according to all the official info available presently.

Personally, I'm not interested in siding w/ the AD, but I will be playing one character in EP and DC.

Anyone can play what they want, but if you want the Gaiscioch tag on your toon, then that toon have to be on EP.  This doesn't mean that you can't play the other factions, only that there won't be a Gaiscioch named guild in those factions.

if there was a gaiscioch named guild in the other factions, the crying would be endless, I remember that from Rift and was both internally and externally, and Rift wasn't even that PvP centric.

That's not how guilds work in ESO. Guilds are per player, not per character. Once you're in the guild, all of your characters are in the guild. Last official word is also no guild tags on characters (if I've missed something recent, please let me know).

I might end up playing a dominion character as well as ebonheart, i have some friends that are playing each and have to please both sides, haha!  I think a wood elf would be my choice, probably a nightblade using daggers and bow, since they're kind of the sneaky sort.  They're also known to be cannibals so i'll have to try those recipes posted above, hahaa! :D

I'll probably end up with a covenant toon also, bit of an alt problem i got. :P

Has anyone noticed the themes yet?

High Elves are chickens.

Wood Elves are a creature that lives primarily in dirt.

Khajiit are cats, which is why I went with the Asian-inspired stuff.

What happens in the Volcanic Tundra, stays in the Volcanic Tundra.

Just an FYI.. If you want the best way to cook a wood elf.. it is like a London Broil.. Soak it in a nice marinade for 30 minutes to overnight... something with some acidity to it. It starts to break down the tougher fibers. I prefer to use Worcestershire Sauce, Pineapple juice, and a special spice mix. Then Smoke it for 2 hours at about 275-300. Use a wood with a nice nutty undertone. Pecan or a southern oak.

They also make a tasty teryaki jerky..

Yes, all toons wind up in all guilds you belong to in the game.  Nothing says you can't play the others, but know if you go into Cyrodiil on the same campaign with a non-Ebonhart Pact toon as Gaiscioch is in, you will more than likely wind up smashed by family as you will be red and red is always dead.  ;)

Now on this flavor talk of cooking things, as a Nord, I'm not sure I would cook a dark elf.  They are just too dang arrogant and hauty and I feel they would have too strong an off flavor to even bother.  I doubt a strong ale would help.  ;)  Just because we are Pact mates doesn't mean we have to like them.  They don't like anyone, even some of their own people.

My main player v.s world character, and roleplaying character, will most likely be a Khajit night blade.  I enjoy the exotic nature of the Khajit and find the A.D. fascinating.  Hope to see some more people in there :)

I'll  have a pocket nord templar to roll with the family campaigns in Cyrodill, throwing around healing goodness.

I plan to go Ebonheart with my main, and I get pretty fixated on making my main cutting edge awesome, but if ESO has strong encouragements for alt'ing I will likely roll an ALTmer *chuckles at bad pun* as well.  I love how they have a very Warhammer feel to them, and their rich history.

They already did in GW2 Athran.  Charr!

Of course, I might not even play outside of Ebonhart Pact.  All depends on how things flow and when my altitis kicks in beyond EB toons.  Of course, at some point I will probably want to see something different because it's the lack of something new to do in PVE that finally makes me stop playing a game and only show up for family events when I feel like it.  If it weren't for family events in GW2 I would not have come back to it yet again after 3 months of exploring FFXIV for a change of pace.

To those who will be rolling races that aren't in the Ebonheart Pact, I will be saddened that you will not be joining us. It will bring me no joy in preparing some of you for our meals. I will make sure to not tell our family that it is you we will be stewing, braising, steaming, frying, or sauteing.

(unless you're getting that thing that let's you play any race on any faction. If so, yay.)

My first toon will probably be a wood elf aligned with ebonhart pact (using the imperial option if I am understanding it correctly).  Probably a nightblade.  If I don't do that, *sigh* I have no idea.... lol.  Gonna have to think about it.  How many slots do we get at launch?  May have to have several alts.  Will probably roll at least one of each class and also one of each faction in there.

Aethenbrior was an Elf with a Cat in WAR. Aethenbrior was a cat/bovine hybrid in Guild Wars 2. So, I would love to play for the Dominion, either as a Khajit or Bosmer (both my favorite ES race). But, since were with the Ebonheart, I can just make a Nord with a giant beard to make him look like a cat/bovine hybrid.

I like the race/class combinations that aren't your typical cookie cutter.

An Orc Nightblade sounds good.  I was thinking of doing an Orc sorcerer who tanks.
